Description

Perth is a town about 20 km south of Launceston, on the Midland Highway. The town had a population of 2,965 at the 2016 census, and is part of the Northern Midlands Council.

Like nearby Longford, Perth is a historic town with many buildings dating back to the early 19th century. It is the first major town out of Launceston on the route to Hobart, and also serves as a major junction for people bypassing Launceston on the route from Hobart to the northwest of the state. Perth was settled in 1821 by Governor Lachlan Macquarie. He was staying nearby with the pastoralist David Gibson and named it after Gibson's hometown of Perth, Scotland.  It was proclaimed as a township in 1836.

This one took a while to find and the coordinates were a bit off for us. Just about to give up when Mr Beetle's persistence paid off.
It was well hidden under dead pine needles.
Thanks.

Mr T from Tassie Trekkers and Mr W decided to tackle this well set up series of caches on the NETRTrail. It was a great day to be out riding. The better halves dropped them off at 10.15 at No. 56 and collected them at No. 01 five hours later. The effort in setting this series up is appreciated as well as the information added to each cache page. The well detailed hints were appreciated. TFTC

Today Mr T and Mr W (whitewebbs) tackled this trail and thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Loading up the trailer with their pushbikes, Mrs T & Mrs W dropped them off at #56 and collected them 5 hours later in Scottsdale.

Many thanks icybeetas, for placing this cache, the information and research on each cache page was interesting. We appreciate the time and effort gone into creating this trail.
