Description

Old Man Gum

BEWARE: There are bees in this area, so check all holes before your put your hand in one. This cache is at GROUND LEVEL, so you should not need to be looking into any potential hives above your ankles.

The You Yangs sees the location sees the location for another cache by caughtatwork and today you are seeking a small 200ml sistema container, discuised in the usual fashion, hidden by old man gum.

This tree would one have stood mighty and high but over time, time itself has caused old man gum to need to take a rest and so he slumbers in the forest waiting for the time to come to return to the earth.

This cache was hidden for the 2023 Summer Cacheopoly Game at Geocaching Australia https://geocaching.com.au/dragonzone/game/cacheopoly

We are on our way to Adelaide for our grand daughter's birthday. After an overnight sailing a morning walk in the YouYangs has almost become a traditional start to our mainland trips. When planning our route we decided to stick to caches on this loup. Alas we didn't have time to do both. This waas first cab off tne rank.

It is always sad to see the remains of what was once a majestic giant lying smashed on the ground. This is, however part of the circle of life. Mrs y'stassie walked up one side of the trunk spotting a swarm of bees just waking up in a hollow on the side. She walked to the end without finding anything but as she started up the other side she spotted something worth a closer look. Sure enough she had the cache container in hand.

Thanks for this well hidden cache caughtatwork. Even though the wind was getting up it was warm and clear. Nice walking conditions.

I decided to drop by this little cluster of 'unfounds' while on the way home today. This was first cab off the rank but with time short and a haystack area to contend with, a peek at the hint was the order of the day. Embarassed At least that had me on the right track and I was soon signing the log at 18:10 for our 71st GCA FTF and our 143rd overall. DancingDancingDancing

Unfortunately it was about this time that I had major hardware problems with 2upoj and software problems with my 'smart' phone that would cost me further FTF opportunities up the track but that's a tale for later on. Wink

TNLNSL. Thanks caughtatwork.
