Description

I've Cached Everywhere, Man - GCA Geocache Series

Lismore 3.0

I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack. Lismore is the third town mentioned in the song.

Lismore is the business and cultural hub of the NSW Northern Rivers and has a population of just over 45,000 people. Lismore was located in it's current position as it was as far up the north arm of the Richmond river (now called the Wilson's River) as timber barges could travel. Once upon a time, Lismore was reliant on the river for transport and exporting timber. Heck, you could even catch fish in there. The river is now mostly unused and fishing is a thing of the past as the water is too silty to support them.

The Lismore area is also known as the 'Rainbow Region', due to it's diverse culture and sub-tropical climates. Lismore is the gateway to some smaller villages such as Nimbin, Bexhill, Clunes and The Channon. There are plenty of World Heritage listed National Parks to be explored in the area too.

Lismore was home to a few famous folks: Adam Gilcrist - the Aussie cricketer went to school in town, and the band Grinspoon formed in town.

You are looking for a small thermos that houses a logbook, pencil and some swaps. It's located at the top of Lismore Lookout, where no flood will ever wash it away! Great place for a picnic if you're passing through town and want somewhere to rest a while. The view isn't as good as it once was as the 'bush regeneration' is thriving a bit too well.

I really like the idea of this series so I was thankful to be reminded of this cache. This is a lovely area. I doubt I would have visited without geocaching. The replacement cache and log are in good condition.
Cheers

Exploring the area today in search of GCA caches and trigs. Your cache was in our target area and one we found along the way.

Arrived at GZ and searched according to the hint, but no luck. We have replaced cache, to keep it active, (hope this is OK)

Nice to tick another ICEM off the list.

Many thanks MattyRx for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Our last find for the day a a quick find TFTC

I've never been up here before! I actually thought you had to walk up here. I didn't realise you could drive to the top. This assumption was based off the trail of GC caches leading up the walking track to here that I still can't be bothered doing. One day maybe [says the one whose caching name used to be the motto 'No Tomorrow'].

That was a nice little wander around a park I've never seen before. Thanks.

I ventured out to Robinson's Lookout this afternoon. The view over Lismore is a bit obscured by the tree growth but still worth a look. It's been many years since I last visited. I don't think the Wilson's Walk had been constructed at that time.

I found the ICEM Lismore cache well placed for easy reach. I was alone at the lookout on arrival with plenty of time to sign the log and checkout the swag. A visitor came shortly afterwards with stroller and dog for a walk.

Thanks MattyRx for the cache and a pleasant afternoon at Girard's Hill.

Apparently getting off at the bus stop is illegal.
