I've Cached Everywhere, Man - GCA Geocache Series

Murwillumbah 3.0

I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack. Coolangatta is mentioned in the first verse.

Murwillumbah is a town of 7500 people located in North East NSW, and is cut in two by the Tweed River.

Murwillumbah is a busy rural town, even though it was bypassed in 2002 and the Pacific Highway no longer runs through town. In 2004, the Casino-Murwillumbah rail line closed, which used to run a daily train to Sydney. It is now the starting (or ending point) for the Northern Rivers Rail Trail.

In 1907, most of the CBD burned down in an out of control fire.

Murwillumbah can claim home to the largest Aussie bank robbery, which happened in 1978. $1,763,000 in cash was stolen from the Bank of NSW (now Westpac). The crime was never solved, and the money never recovered.

The box is a small thermos container located at Lion's Lookout. It contains a logbook, pencil and some swaps.

I hadn't realised this was unfound until we were in Murwillumbah and the icon was on the map. Funny thing about maps, hills don't look the same as when you're standing at the bottom of one looking up to where you've got to ride to get the cache. This one was going to need to be done in one fell swoop because stopping's not an option if you can't get started again. And thank goodness for e-bikes.

And so I made it. MrG on the other hand had sped up there like it was flat but methinks he has some power surge thing that the pleb riders don't have. Wink

It was quiet at the top, no one anywhere. Not to waste a great opportunity I went straight to GZ and spotted the likely spot straight off. Nice.... a practical waterproof container and lots of swaps. I took the coin and have yet to read up on how it works. Opened the logbook and yep, empty! {FTF} after coffee o'clock (unfortunately I didn't check the exact time). TFTC MattyRx and the fun involved at Murwillumbah's best location.

A shark can swim faster than me, but I can run faster than a shark, so in a triathlon, it would all come down to who is the better cyclist.
