The Falls Drive Tour - Stop #1Browns Falls |
Attraction Type: Waterfall Walking Distance: 1.2km return Time Required: 1 hour Difficulty: Terrain:

Browns Falls are the first stop if driving The Falls Tourist Drive from Killarney or Legume. There's a nice spot to park with toilets, picnic tables, BBQs and childrens play equipment. From the park, you wander down through a tunnel under the road then follow the creek. Red trail markers lead the way, and theres three creek crossings to do, so be prepared that you may get wet feet. You'll walk 600m along the creeks with plentiful cascades and waterholes before being presented with Browns Falls - a 15m fall over a basalt cliff.
The cache is located back from the falls a bit, and due to the thick canopy, GPS accuracy can vary. The cache is located on the uphill side of a large hoop pine. There's some poly pipes and an old steel pipe only a meter or so from the cache location. Stand on the uphill side of the hoop pine, with your back against it's trunk and look down at you feet. The cache is hidden in a rocky hole about 50cm from your left foot. There's a short animated spoiler pic in the gallery.
The cache contains a logbook, pencil and swaps. It would be wise not to attempt this cache if the area is in flood. Please note that there is no mobile reception on this walk. Navigation details and hint will need to be prepared prior to your walk and accessed offline.
