Description
Geo-Wordle
Wordle is a word guessing game invented by a Welsh software engineer, Josh Wardle - who has since sold it on to the New York Times where it has become a popular game for it's readers. It's a simple game in where everyday a mystery 5 letter word is selected and players are given 6 attempts to guess the word. Tiles change colour after every guess to indicate whether a letter is in the correct spot, or even if it is contained in the word itself (See 'How To Play' below). The word changes at midnight every night, so everyday players can return for a new challenge every day.
To find this cache, you'll need to need to gather clues by successfully completing the wordle game. Every day of the week, a new clue is given - so you'll need to play 7 times to obtain all clues. If you miss a day, you can play the game next week on the same day - and the same clue will be issued (i.e. Saturdays clue will be the same, no matter what Saturday you guess the word correctly). The mystery word you're trying to guess will be different though as it changes daily. Unlike the real game hosted by the New York Times, you are able to refresh the page and start your guesses again if you are unsuccessul. This makes for an easier challenge.
This cache was hidden for the 2023 MMMM - Mid-Year Mystery Madness Months game. During the game period (1st June 2023 - 31st July 2023) the five letter word you're guessing will in some way be geocaching related. This cache will still be available to find after the game period, however the mystery word could be any five letter dictionary word, and the will no longer remain the same for the duration of the day. It will change on every refresh.
Please also note that the word you are guessing could be in plural form, and could also have repeated letters.
How To PlayGuess the Wordle in 6 tries.
Examples W is in the word and in the correct spot.
I is in the word but in the wrong spot.
U is not in the word in any spot. |
Once you've gathered all the clues, you should have no problem finding the cache at:
S28° 1[MON].[WED][SAT][THU]'
E153° 3[TUE].[THU][SUN][FRI]'
The cache itself is a small sized container with logbook, pencil and a few swaps. It's a nice spot away from the crowd - where a cache once was, but then wasn't, and now is.

Logs
Whilst here I took a wander around a nearby museum and a couple of tracks there. Sadly the museum has seen better days. Glass cabinet windows were tricky to see though and shelves there-in covered in dead bugs and the like. Large prints on the display boards were faded blue or on their way there. I even couldn't help notice the gutters outside were overflowing with of leaf litter and starting to grow stuff. On my return from this cache I had a chat with a local who had made a few suggestions to the NPWS about tidying up the place and he said they had at least finally cleared the tracks and the nearby badly damaged boardwalk had only just been cleared up after being in a very bad state for over a year.
I had a great day out, topped off with a visit to the Fingal Head Causeway and climbing around on the rocks there a while. I've missed that place. Thanks for the fun adventure.
Enjoyed solving this one and even better we got to find it.
Making our way to GZ proved interesting, the earth literally MMMMMoved under our feet. Once at GZ a quick find was made. With signing duties done and required pic taken we headed back to the car. A memorable cache find in an area not visited before.

MMMMMany thanks MattyRx for placing this cache and giving us the opportunity to find some caches during the game period.
Cheers and thanks OldSaint
