Description

Location

This cache has been placed on Browns road on the way up to the Mount Misery walking track.  All caches have been placed where there is parking.  The road is very narrow in places and one lane only, so drive slow in case vehicles come the other way!

Puzzle

The universal parabolic constant is a mathematical constant.

It is defined as the ratio, for any parabola, of the arc length of the parabolic segment formed by the latus rectum to the focal parameter. The focal parameter is twice the focal length. The ratio is denoted P.[1][2][3] In the diagram, the latus rectum is pictured in blue, the parabolic segment that it forms in red and the focal parameter in green. (The focus of the parabola is the point F and the directrix is the line L.)

The value of P is

P = ln(1 + √2) + √2

The cache can be found at the following location

S42 59. (248.7381 x P)

E147 00. (111.518 x P)

Was up bright and early heading south to grab some caches and do some shopping at stores we dont have up north.
After calling into a friends place in Ranelagh to say g'day and have a coffee, Afterwards we made our way up Browns road to locate the last of the MMMM games caches we had not yet found in Tassie.
Found all caches Relatively quickly and headed back to Kingston to do some shopping before heading back north.

As July is a very busy month for us we needed to find a few free days to look for the MMMM puzzles hidden in the south. We had solved the puzzle quickly after it was published and were pleased to be able to locate the hide easily.

Thanks for this contribution to the MMMM Game Budgietas. Container and contents were safe and dry. Our photo of the signed logbook is included with this log.

Hi Budge
Enjoyed the puzzles on these caches
This trip was double barrelled in nature
First barrel - to find some caches, of which, this was one
It was Sainted at 1158 hours
Second barrel – to check Mum and Dad’s grave flowers
Both barrels went off well
Cheers and thanks

SSR left me to this cache as he had a phone call. No problem until I lifted a bit of bark to slide the container under and a little snake was sleeping there. For a minute I wondered if it was swag, but no it moved!
SSR finished his call and I called him over for a look. Mr Snake wasn't happy and reared up at us! A call to the CO has resulted in the cache being moved slightly further up the road.
Thanks Budgietas
