Description
Brisbane CBD's first GCA Cache
On a recent work trip to Melbourne I had fun with the Bourke & Wills series in the CBD. I was a little disappointed that the following week I was here in Brisbane and there were no GCA caches in the CBD - so now there is.
This is a lovely location to visit in the middle of the Brisbane CBD and there is plenty of space to just sit, relax and also take some time to remember.
To log this cache you will simply need to take and upload with your log, a photo of yourself (preferably) and your GPS (mandatory) at the Shrine of Remembrance in ANZAC Square.

We are in the city reaaly this morning hoping to collect a few Virtual caches while there is parking spaces available and this is one of them
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 93. Tully Day 7. Trains Day 7. Train from Brisbane to Tully day 1. Today is the beginning of my fourth and final train trip in this section. It did not leave till 15,45, so there was plenty of the day to use around Brisbane visiting LABs and finding a few caches. Especially once I found some breakfast and checked out of the accommodation. Once on the train it was a mostly day run up to Rockhampton, a town I seem to have only visited in the wee hours on these train trips.
Whilst wander around Brisbane, I stopped here for an image

I visited this today, took lots of photographs, but unfortunately I didn't have GA caches loaded (didn't expect to be in Brisbane City), and so I can't log this, as none of my photographs includes my GPS .
I have walked past this memorial many times. Today I discovered the fantastic galleries underneath. The galleries are well worth a visit.
Another interesting place to stop in Brisbane - these Shrines to the Anzacs hold a special place in our family as my grandad was a returned Anzac. Thanks for bringing us here

I was going to start this log by saying I couldn't understand why there had been 57 weeks since the last find on this cache but then I have to admit we've walked past on several occasions and not stopped to 'do' this cache. More embarrassingly, we visited the crypt underneath for this year's Brisbane Open House. Its a fantastic space dedicated to all the servicemen who served and didn't return in the major conflicts where Queenslanders have served.
I must admit we don't 'do' selfies and publish them on the Internet, however we do have a travelling companion, Samboo, who actually enjoys having his photo on the World Wide Web and actually has his one Facebook page and Instagram account.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.
I had lunch in Anzac Square last week and remembered to take the GPSr with me to take a photo for this cache.

I had to find at least one cache while on holiday in Brisbane and it appears this is the only one around the city!
I had already been here a few times over my holiday but didn't realise there was a cache here - visited it again quickly today before leaving Brisbane.

I visited the ANZAC square on a geocaching walk around Brisbane, they appeared to be setting up for a small ceremony as RSL members and later a half dozen uniformed soliders arrived. A peaceful park, shame the reason of its existance was anything but - lest we forget
We were here on 24 April (day before ANZAC Day) and ANZAC Square was buzzing with activity with workers and sound-technicians getting things ready for the Dawn Service in the morning. However the Shrine on Ann St wasn't too busy at all.

ANZAC Square is always a very special place to visit. Over the years we've been here many times for ANZAC day and to just have a time of remembrance when we've been in the area. Today was one such day as we needed on last time of remembrance before venturing out of Australia. TFTV jusojara
There happened to be a Geo Flash mob at the Shrine this morning so I took the opportunity to get a photo taken while was there.
I keep telling myself that I must come here for a dawn service one year.
I checked out the history room down below many years ago.

I was in town for a couple of days of meetings and thought I'd take a stroll into the centre for a spot of caching to break up tonight's 'homework'. Unfortunately, I'd left my camera at home so I took the shot at 21:35 with the phone camera. I hope that's OK . I've improved the image quality as best I could and labelled the GPSr in the pickie.
My first GCA cache outside Victoria and a Happy New Year to boot .
Thanks for providing a GCA caching opportunity jusojara .

Easy enough, left the gps in canberra, so had to use phone..which took the photo. I tried!!

116km from home.
After dinner at the Casino we took a stroll around the CBD to pick up a few caches. This one a ‘Must do’ for an old soldier…

Have walked past many times.. Recently joined the club and thought I'd check this one off on my way home from work.
In Brisbane just for the day with big plans for city caching but unfortunately my client had bigger plans thus all I could manage was this one which was fortuantely just over the road from where I was working. Great spot in the city, TFTC!
Found this one while dragging my son around Brisbane CBD. I'm a little surprised he could muster a smile for the photo. Thank you for the cache and the reminder a couple of days before Rememberance Day
I was in Melbourne a few months ago and I also had fun walking around collecting some of the Burke and Wills Virtual caches. When we came into the cit today, I saw that there was a virtual over here and made sure that I steered the wife and son this way.
After grabbing the nearby GC cache, we came down here and took the obligatory photo. This is a great Shrine of Rememberance that I would never have come to see if it was not for this cache.
Thankyou for bringing us to this place jusojara
Cheers

Working in Brisbane for a couple of days and headed out to grab this one at lunch time. It's a lot warmer here than Canberra that's for sure.

After a great augmented reality dinosaur hunt with lokipagan and the geokids, we where on our way to the train station, where I had to stop by and grab this find. I have been passed this so many times, but I don't think I have stopped to look and ponder it's meaning as often as I should.
Thanks for placing the cache and allowing the chance to reflect of the ANZAC spirit

Found after attending the St. Patrick's Day Parade, whilst on the way to some other caches in the upper CBD. Unfortunately our GPSr is our camera (HTC Desire HD android phone using c:geo application), so Gemma is in the photo taken by our GPSr/camera.

Yes, you are right, the CBD does need some more GCA caches, especially virtuals.
It was good to have a look around here today as normally I would just walk past. There were some interesting plaques on some of the nreaby seats.

Work was having some farewell drinks across the road at lunch so it was an easy walk over to visit the memorial.
There was a GCA cache in the botanical gardens called Cliff View but it was archived 12 months ago.
