Description

The Central Highlands covers 8,010 sq km, or 12 per cent of Tasmania’s land mass, and is home to disparate, but thriving communities.

It has a permanent population of 2,216 and 3,700 ratepayers, many of whom own shacks in the communities around the region’s numerous spectacular lakes and mountains.

The Central Highlands boasts glorious scenery and dramatic built heritage dating back to the early 19th century. It is the birthplace of Tasmania’s Hydro-Electric power system and home to the best trout fishing in the southern hemisphere.

The region is host to a World Heritage Area, two national parks and other Wilderness Conservation Areas, to Tasmania’s recreational fly fishing, hunting and bushwalking communities, and has strong agricultural, horticultural and tourism industries.

Swampy and I decided that we needed to continue our plunder of caches in the north west of the state. Countless hours were spent solving puzzles, planning routes and generally preparing for the onslaught. This was going to encompass caches both from GC and GCA. Thanks for placing this hide.

Hi gooseandegg.
Today VK7HCH continued our plundering of caches between home and the northwest of the state.
On Day 1 of the plunderage, your cache was one of those that we found.
We worked our way from Mangalore to Deloraine via the Central Highlands finding caches as we went.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

While in the area stopped to find this cache. TFTC

After completing the Highlands Power Trail we were heading home when we realised we were approaching this cache. We were glad we noticed it before we reached it as the light was starting to fade and the temperature had dropped back to 4 degrees. We found the container tucked away from sight and had soon added our name to the log.

Thanks for this cache gooseandegg. The trees along this stretch of road have particularly pretty trunks at this time of year as they loose some of their old bark and the brighter colours or the new bark are exposed.

On our way to the newly published caches at Waddamana, we found your cache along the way. Made a quick find of a nicely stocked cache.

Many thanks gooseandegg for your cache placement here.

Yesterday we were working at Bothwell to install a unit into a customers tractor, on our way back north we decided to look for a few new caches that were along the way.
the first one was showing no finds log so we thought we might have been in luck for a ftf but there was already another cacher name in the logbook they must have forgot to log online.
after that we moved onto the next one which didnt have alot of parking on the side of the road that on the side we were coming from but we made it work. then we headed for the Great Lake shop to look for the cache there but couldn't locate that one. We stopped at the Lake lookout at the top of Haulage hill where i did a maintenance check on one of my geoart caches.
We then made a b line home as it was getting pretty late.

This cache was a quick find, great little hiding place. TFTC

Took a moment to stop for a few caches on the way home from a job in Bothwell. Good co-ordinates along with descriptive hint allowed for a quick find. TFTC.
