Description
A semaphore station, built in 1829, and signal mast were constructed above Mulgrave Battery, allowing communication with ships entering the mouth of the river, and through a relay system of masts, all the way to Port Arthur penitentiary on the Tasman Peninsula. The semaphore station and signal mast are still standing on the edge of Princes Park and once signalled ships entering the harbour, and relayed messages via a chain of stations to Port Arthur.

On our way to Kingston we stopped to look for this cache. It was a quick find. The container blended into its surroundings very well.
Thanks for this cache Gooseandegg. It was very quiet here this evening but is usually very busy during working hours.
