Description

St Helena Lookout

This cache is equipt with NFC technology!

Simply pass your NFC enabled mobile phone over the cache lid, and you'll receive a propmt to open a browser. Your browser will prompt you to log into Geocaching Australia (if you're not already), and will land on the logging page for this geocache. How's that for modern technology at work!

A simple cache at one of the best ocean lookout points in the Northern Rivers that requires no hike to visit.

The cache is just down the hill a bit from the main vantage point - even so, this is a muggle heavy location that may require stealth. The cache is hidden in plain sight, so hopefully if there are too muggles around you can swoop in and grab the container in one swift action - then take it away to sign the log. A GCA Pathtag for the FTF. Nice views for everyone.

Stopped for lunch and idly checked for nearby caches. Only 17 metres away. Best go and get it then. Thanks for the cache

After a morning of BWF Volunteer Induction in Bangalow, it was off to visit Byron. Now I hear a lot of locals bag that place out, but I like it. I grew up in bustling Newcastle, have lived in cold Cooma and cold-hearted Canberra, have lived in dodgy Dubbo, and seen a lot of the coast of NSW, and I think Byron has a lot of beauty and character. I don't like the crowds of course, but there's lots to love there. I intended to only spend 2 hours there today... 5 hours later I'm driving by this lookout just in time for sunset. A really nice way to close off a Byron visit day.

I'd actually forgotten there was a cache here and have driven past it a number of times. It was only this week I realised I'd forgotten it. So this dusk I found it. I wasn't technically first to find it either. There's been a few muggle visits. One in there has me scratching my head. LAZZA C or was it LAZZA L? Reminded me of a local cacher who finds caches and doesn't log them till forever. Hahaha. If it wasn't in the middle of the logbook I would have seriously thought it was them.

I signed my name and added emojis I can't add to this log. Haha. I couldn't get the NFC tag to work though. Sad I'm going to need some help getting those to work. I can't help but feel I'm probably missing out on finding some really cool hidden treasure by finding all these NFC tags and none of them working for me. Haha.

Thanks for the cache.

PS, why do so many people drive away from sunsets after the sun has set? The colour show is just beginning then!
