Description

Captain Cook Memorial Globe

The Terrestrial Globe is about three metres in diameter and shows the three routes of Cook's voyages, which are described on the surrounding handrail. Meridians of longitude and parallels of latitude form this open-cage globe, with landmasses depicted in beaten bas-relief copper.

The architectural firm of Bunning Madden, which designed the National Library, located on the other side of Lake Burley Griffin, also designed the Captain Cook Water Jet and Globe.

The above information was taken from, here.

With a D1T5 CITO on in Canberra I decided that today I would do a day trip over. Johno, why didn’t you just stay a little longer over there after the Geobash? Because I had things to do at home and wanted some time with my [muggle] family and friends during my annual leave. So I made my way over there and after having breakfast, I headed off to go Geocaching. Due to the bad weather, I decided it was going to be a great day to find those caches within high muggle areas. It was a great idea because there wasn’t any muggles around. Yes, I got very wet throughout the morning and once it was about 1pm I started to dry off, because the rain stopped. I then found a couple of more caches before heading to the CITO. Once at the CITO, it was great fun cleaning up the pond and catching up with everyone. I then headed off to get dinner and afterwards headed home. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTE & TFTC’s! Big Grin

I was out finding the nearby GC caches and this one was found along the way. A quick snapshot and I then headed off to the next one. Big Grin
