Bridge over Forth River. Different perspective from the kayak. This is the west bound span of the bridge.
This is McFarlane Bridge over South Arm that is part of the Clarence River system in northern NSW. It connects Maclean and Woodford Island. Another wonderful old Bridge 'just around the corner' is the Harwood Bridge that was part of the Pacific Highway but a huge concrete monstrosity crosses the Clarence River right next to it, forming part of the new Pacific Motorway, and again crossing the North Arm just a short distance up the highway.
I pulled over to take a photo of the stunning McFarlane Bridge, and also the engineering marker.
Thanks blingg, a great cache idea

This stunning stone bridge is the oldest Convict built stone bridge surviving in Greenough , WA.
A great part of history to be preserved, though possibly a little sad under the circumstances it was built.
Our phone is multi purpose, being our phone, gps and camera.

This bridge is part of Koombana Drive in Bunbury, WA. I haven't seen a name for it.
The body of water it is over is another name I don't know as it's a little section where water leaves/enters the inlet from Koombana Bay. Many years ago could probably have said Preston River but that got diverted years ago and the inlet was formed which is great for crabbing and water sports

We were camped at Stockton Beach Holiday Park. Under the bridge on the Stockton side is a great birdwatching spot. To go to most of the other birdwatching places we had to drive over the bridge. A very impressive structure. It is on the Nelson Bay Road and crosses the North Channel of the Hunter River. TFTC

This is a new bridge over the Cockle Creek
Cockle Creek
Client Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment - Parks and Wildlife Service
Value$570,000
StateTasmania
CompletedSeptember 2014
The Cockle Creek Bridge is located about 3km south of Catamaran on the Cockle Creek. It has the distinction of being the most southerly road bridge in Australia.
The Project
The eastern (far) end is within South West National Park and the western end is within the Recherche Bay NatureRecreation Area. The bridge provides access to walking tracks, camping areas and the PWS staff accommodation, as well as only vehicle access to shacks/dwellings.
The existing 5-span timber structure was in poor condition, did not comply with current standards and in need of replacement. Aesthetic considerations were also an important factor due to location.
VEC was awarded the design and construct contract to replace this existing structure on the same alignment with a new 41m 3-span single lane concrete Bridge compliant with AS 5100 and a design life of 100 years. The design was based on a slim 600mm deep, 3 span precast concrete plank bridge. The structure was founded on dolerite bedrock, with a mixture on steel tube and UC piles.
Concrete elements were precast, with insitu concrete stitches completed on site. Due to the sensitive nature of the work area, the site was essentially confined to the existing alignment and approaches. To overcome this constraint, VEC commissioned a temporary work gantry to launch the 20tonne concrete planks incrementally over the 3 spans, and negate the need for heavy and expensive cranes on site, which would have required area outside the construction footprint. Additional to this was a white steel combination pedestrian/ traffic barrier, to reflect on the previous white timber barrier of the existing and meet the aesthetic considerations. The bridge was also designed to cater for future development in the way of a cantilevered pedestrian barrier.

After attending my first GA event and finding a Historic Marker nearby, I couldn't resist taking this shot of the concrete Morell Bridge over the Yarra River. We were on foot, so no chance of including our vehicle in the shot, and since my GPS is my iPhone, with which this photo was taken, it cannot be in the picture as well. Nevertheless I did enjoy the view from here.

Hello blingg thanks for the cache.
The St Pauls River Bridge is located on Esk Main Road, within the western approach to the township
of Avoca between Blenheim Street and Stieglitz Street.
The photo is of the new bridge opened in 2016 from a near by cache.
The bridge overall is at 90m long, this is an increase in length from the replaced bridge which
was 72m. The main reason for increasing the length is to limit the need for very high abutments to be
constructed. The old structure had abutments that were approximately 10m high; by lengthening
the new bridge the abutment and associated curtain wall can be limited to approximately 3m
high.

Hello blingg thanks for the cache.
This bridge goes over the South Esk River in Avoca the road that goes over the bridge is the Storys Creek Road.
The South Esk river is 252km long been the longest river in Tasmania starting on the slopes of Ben Lomond and flowing into the Tamar River.
This river quiet often floods and flows over the bridge.
When it floods in Avoca you know there are going to be some major flooding as far away as Launceston.
There was a football oval on the banks of the river but it has long gone I don't know if it was due to the flooding or the failure of the local football team.
I tried to find the cache here but I'm positive it has been washed away with the last flood.

Just drove through the big dipper on the LH Ford Bridge in Dubbo over the Macquarie River. It's been the big dipper since shortly after it was built. The pilons sank. They had to alter the road surface so it wasn't such a drop. There is talk of it being replaced soon.
This the road bridge on the Nepean Highway in Carrum, Vic, as it crosses Patterson River. Not the most picturesque construction ever, but it does what it's designed to do. [Note: My camera IS my GPS and I was on foot]
One of Canberra's newest concrete road bridges. It was built as part of the Majura Parkway project and crosses the Molonglo River. It even has pretty coloured lights lighting it at night.

This is the new-ish Franklin Street bridge in Traralgon, enabling access for residents in the north-eastern part of town directly into the CBD. It was rebuilt a few years ago as it was flood-prone and this new one is pretty fancy. At night, the bollards light up bright blue on either side of the roadway. The water-body it crosses is Traralgon Creek; a pretty fast-flowing and flood-prone tributary of the Latrobe River; our major river system in the Latrobe Valley. TFTC Blingg

We are logging the D V Fleming Bridge, which crosses the Onkaparinga River near Old Noarlunga, South Australia. It forms part of Main South Road, and its construction was supervised by D V Fleming, Engineer for Roads and Bridges. It was opened in 1973, and formed part of the bypass of Old Noarlunga.
We travel across this bridge quite often whenever we decide to head south toward Mount Compass, Goolwa or Victor Harbour.

No signs and it isn't that impressive but I needed one for the Summer Scavenger series. This is the bridge over Pine Brush Creek at the northern end of Korora. Which is just north of Coffs Harbour. A photo of the creek next to the bridge and the bridge itself. This area is sadly lacking in decent rivers where I am stuck looking after a blind mother while dad is in hospital. Thanks blingg.
M1 Road Bridge over Currumbin Creek.
When it comes to concrete road bridges over water, it doesn't get much bigger around here than the M1 (Pacific Highway) road bridge. It was built in the mid-1980s as a single carriageway bridge as part of the proposal to move the Pacific Highway, away from the coastal road to a slightly more inland route which follows the old train line (closed in the early 1960s). It was duplicated in the 1990s, and additional two lane (creating three lanes each way)expansion is somewhere in its future.
In the background of the photo is the original Currumbin Railway Bridge (1900s era), now a pedestrian walkway.

The Hawkesbury River Freeway Bridge, sometimes known as the Brooklyn Bridge, is a six-lane road bridge carrying the M1 Motorway across the Hawkesbury River from Brooklyn to Moonee Moonee. The signs at each end of the bridge show simply "Hawkesbury River". The bridge uses girder construction with a concrete deck on concrete piers. The bridge opened on August 10, 1973. It duplicates the two-lane Peats Ferry Bridge, opened in 1945.

Fitzsimons Lane bridge, Templestowe.
This is one of the few vehicular bridges that crosses the Yarra River in the outer north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
This bridge was built in 1991 and it's predecessor was constructed in 1961. Before that the nearest crossings were in Banksia St, Heidelberg and Warrandyte.
If this bridge is closed it is about a 10km drive to the crossing in either Heidelberg or Warrandyte, which could add more than 20km to your journey depending on where you are travelling to.

This concrete Bridge over Sandy Creek in Nanango was built in 2014/2015 to address a problem with the old wood bridge that became very evident in the 2013 Floods. The Creek went over the bridge and the approaches from both sides cut the bridge off and this Bridge is the only high link from the western side of town to access the Nanango Hospital. The Brisdge was built 800mm higher then the Wood bridge and the dips on the approach to the Bridge were eliminated. TFT: Blingg

Below is the online description of this concrete bridge:
"The bridge over the Hawkesbury River near North Richmond (no. 429), North-West of Sydney, is one of the first reinforced concrete structures in Australia. At the time of its construction it was the largest reinforced concrete bridge in the country, and it remained so for 25 years. The bridge is one of a few examples of the Monier arch system in New South Wales. The system was developed by Joseph Monier and licenced in Australia to the firm Carter Gummow and Co. and later to the firm Monash and Anderson. Most of the structures built in Australia are in Victoria, including the Anderson Street Bridge in Melbourne. The history of the structures in Victoria has been well documented, and can be found at Monash & Anderson’s Monier Arch Bridges. The North Richmond Bridge is documented by the NSW Government Office of Environment and Heritage. The original structure consists of 13 arch spans, monolithic with heavy concrete piers, consisting of twin concrete caissons founded on rock, joined by a deep headstock with curved soffit. The northern end of the bridge can be accessed from Hanna Park, immediately to the north, which has an access path under the bridge, the path providing excellent views of the bridge and along the Hawkesbury River in both directions."

Ross Bridge is an historic bridge in the town of Ross in central Tasmania, Australia, completed in July 1836. It crosses the Macquarie River.
The sandstone bridge was constructed by convict labour, and is the third oldest bridge still in use in Australia. Commissioned by Lieutenant-Governor Arthur, the bridge was designed by architect John Lee Archer, with the convict work team including two stonemasons, James Colbeck and Daniel Herbert, the latter being credited with the intricate carvings along both sides of the bridge. The bridge was registered on the Register of the National Estate in 1978.

The reinforced concrete bridge over the Leven River at Ulverstone, Tasmania, was completed late in 2011 to replace an old reinforced concrete bridge on the downstream side of the new bridge. The old bridge was approximately 70 years old, was a narrow two lane structure and had certainly outlived it's safety and usefulness. The new bridge was built at a cost of $10.5 million in a little under 12 months with minimal disruption to traffic. the old bridge took less than two weeks to dismantle. The photo added to the Gallery is taken downstream on the eastern bank of the Leven River.

The district is a farming community, with a big tourist influx annually.
I think the artist Glover comes from Evandale, a statue of the artist, is displayed prominently in the town. It is after this painter that the Glover Art Prize is named.

The Princes Highway crossing of the Shoalhaven River in Nowra was duplicated in 1980 with this concrete box-girder bridge, just called the new bridge. Several years later a semi collided with the adjacent steel bridge resulting in it being closed for several months. It was discovered that the new bridge, designed with two lanes, could accommodate three lanes of traffic & it has remained this way since.

A concrete bridge over Broughton Creek which flows into the Shoalhaven River nearby. A very busy road connecting Nowra-Bomaderry to Shoalhaven Heads & which is an alternative route to the Princes Highway.
