Description
Dural Blue Blue Mountains Views
Located to the northwest of Sydney and still a semi-rural district, Dural is now famous for many things besides its natural beauty -- flower nurseries, antique shops, roadside vegie and flower stalls, large houses on acreage, etc. I've lived and worked here for nearly 40 years now.
The name Dural comes from 'Dooral Dooral' -- meaning 'burning logs -- which is apparently what the area was called in the past by its Aboriginal caretakers.
But Dural is also known for its beautiful horses and numerous elevated places, often along Old Northern Road, where you can view the wilderness of high tablelands that we call 'mountains' -- far off to the west.
This particular geocaching spot is rather nondescript in itself but on clear days it allows the visitor to observe the distant azure of the Blue Mountains . . . and perhaps to catch a glimpse of horses in the equestrian centre below.
You'll find plenty of places to park right at GZ, rather far away from the little shopping centre and the shopping muggles. Please don't climb over or under any of the fences into the paddocks. That's private property and the cache isn't hidden there. And be careful of the barbed wire.
Bring a writing implement with you, because this little cache is just a bit too small to include a pen or pencil.

Logs
It certainly sounds like this very old little cache has finally gone missing. However, since a successful log involves crawling in underneath some challenging bushes right next to a car park, there's a possibility that the recent DNFs were caused by a lack of 'geocaching vigour' (no offence meant). I placed this cache here when I lived nearby, and am now living further away. I might try to get one of my friends to check up on it. In the meantime, I'll temporarily disable it.
Came through this evening with the previous two cachers to find this one, but unfortunately even with all of us looking, the cache could not be found. May need a check.
No luck here today, even with help from a previous finder. A recent find suggests a case of cache blindness might be the issue
This was the second time I have been here to look for this cache. The first time the GPSr kept on moving between 2 places searched for a short while without much conviction so didn't log it as a DNF. This time I decided where it was going to be and went for it but it wasn't there. Then I spotted the flash of blue. Eureka there it is at the same time OUCH what was that. It appears there is something with spikes nearby encroaching so I stood on it while making the grab. I handed the cache to alnic39 to do the signing duties so I didn't have to get passed the plant again. Once signed replaced as found. Thanks for the cache the views are amazing, later we did a cache near the house in the middle ground pjmpjm.

Crafty little bugger.....I went into that area twice before I spotted it. Thought, with the view, that was the best shot, but it took a good 5 minutes to nab it. But all's well that end's well and the log was eventually signed...
Thanks for another pjmpjm....yep, nice views...thought I could see you area....

Out for a day's geocaching with pjmpjm doing the driving duties as usual!
For some unknown reasons I had not logged this cache and since the CO was with me I had no trouble finding it. Signed and returned to its rightful place.
Thanks for another GCA cache.

Took a little bit of a look before I spotted this one with a nice view. Shame about the rubbish someone has dumped under the tree, but at least it's out of the way of the cache. Left a moveable just up the road as well. Thanks Patrick.
She who must be Obeyed and Daughter in Law II NEEDED MORE PLANTS. So off to Hargraves we go. At least there were caches around!
SO after dropping them orf iset off to hunt.
Thanks Acko

Well this took a long time! I got great views over the mountains but at first arrival had a muggle parked at GZ. I wandered off to a nearby Munzee then returned to luckily see him drive off. I then spent the next 15 minutes scouring the area for any sign of Mr Blue. I even searched for tricky camo hides, until just as I thought I would lose light, I spied it forlorn amongst the leaf litter nearly buried.
Not sure if it was once camo'd but I reattached it with its wire and the next hunter should have a much easier time of it. Keeping in mind it may no longer be where the CO intended. Otherwise, it was in OK nick.
Cheers!

A bit overcast today so no views to the west. But it was a nice quiet spot this morning to search and it took me a few minutes! Thanks pjm
In the area doing some Quarry Rd caches and this was on the way. Hot and humid with hazy views west today. Checked 2 spots and then found the blue devil, secured similarly to another pjm hide in the area. As Tronador noted, the seal has gone, but the contents are fine.

Check that this one is still in place.
All OK!
Beautiful views today, west towards the Blue Mountains.
Hope it looks like this when you visit . . .

Went to do this on the way to the event but a muggle was very nearby. Not wanting to sacrifice the cache, I attended the event and dropped by afterwards on my way home from Swanes nursery and yummy cafe. No muggles or their cars in sight. So I rolled up to GZ and virtually stepped on GZ..... well almost. Found sneakily tucked away. I like the inner tube but I'm sorry to say as I was closing the cache the o ring snapped, so it may no longer be water proof.

With a car parked within 50 metres of the cache I used Phone-A-Friend to confirm the location before swooping! I must have looked a sight! But, I think they were busy with each other!

This was a challenge.
Arrived and worked out the exact GZ spot, and found the cache within a minute.
Took the log and container base tot he ute to sign, got back to GZ and had lost he internal container with the log, spo spent several minutes checking pockets, and searching the ground by torchlight.
Gave up, replaced the log, put it all away, got into the car and found the original log in my jacket pocket hiding under the car keys as I got in, so went back, swapped the logs, and saved my replacement for another day, leaving the right log in the right place. Some days, I wonder....
Thanks for the cache, it was just on sunset, and the backlight on the mountains was great.

Out on an early morning hunt whilst the Geoteens were still asleep, not even the Easter Bunny could awake them.
Serarched for quite a while here without success - I am a bit handicapped at the moment (broken foot in a cam boot) so getting into some spots is not on.
Will try again maybe withy Geoteen later on the weekend.

Ahh invoking GAFF4, I asked pjmpjm for some help. Placing gnomes right near cache was pretty much a giveaway but in the dark I still fumbled around looking for it. Turns out it IS very similar to another classic pjmpjm cache. Well done again. Loved it Still a nice view as well

Is my 40th Birthday party tonight and wanted to get a find today. Thought I knew pjmpjm's hides. Obviously not today for this one. Went up to look for the next cache along.

This is a bit of a tricky hide. But for a quick flash of colour that caught my eye, I could have been looking a lot longer. Must also commend the little container that holds the log scroll inside the cache. Really deserves to be found by more cachers. Will have to have a crack at the one up the road soon too. Thanks pjmpjm.
Finally had a chance to go for a FTF on a pjmpjm cache! Had been in the city but headed home after my duties there were finished and drove out along Old Northern Road to a place where I'd picked a gnome not long ago. There at GZ was a large removal truck parked with the two occupants having a good view of where I was to search via the rear view mirrors... then it started to rain!
I retired to the car for a moment and then the truck drove off and the rain stopped. Rain hadn't put off the young equestrians below. Had a good look at all the usual suspects and then went a but further. Spotted something a little out of place and GOTCHA! A nice little hide, signed the log and replaced and then the CO turned up - must have read my mind!
Great fun.
