Description
You know when you walk into a cemetary and you see all those doves that never move....this is the cache for them
This is my first cache. The idea came to me when I was taking photos of Angels for another cache.
While wandering around trying to find the "right" angel I noticed that there were a lot of Still, Silent Doves and decided that they needed a cache too.
The only stipulations for this cache are that you must include your GPSr and the dove in your picture and each cacher may only log one find. If a cacher logs more than one find, all subsequent finds will be removed.
All doves must be on a grave. Here is an example.
Logs
Mrs Beetle and our grandson were travelling home today from a few days bike riding at Derby when we stopped at the Frankford cemetery to see if we could find any graves with still, silent doves on them. We actually managed to find 2, not bad for a small rural cemetery.
Recently we walked up and down the much larger Latrobe cemetery and couldn't find a single one!

Thanks.

A silent dove on the grave of Samuel Elyard the fourth son of William Elyard. He was a surgeon with the Royal Navy & was born 9 May 1817 died 23 October 1910. His brother, also a surgeon with the Royal Navy, is buried in the family plot along with their parents.
GrimRaider and I took a detour into Windsor today on the way home from Nelson Bay. I wanted a photo of the Royal Hotel and thought I would grab the trig at St Matthews Church as well. On the off chance, I had a search through the cemetery and found a pair of doves on one of the graves. Photo taken and cache grabbed - cool as I need this cache for the SSS series. TFTC

Wandering the Southport General Cemetery, actually looking for a specific grave but keeping an eye open for doves. Graves in this cemetery date from the turn of the 20th century, although they have discovered an earlier burial from before this became a gazetted cemetery, and there are more recent burials assuming your family has already 'bought land'.
I wondered as I walked up and down the rows where the doves would be. Do I need to look in the oldest part of the cemetery or around the newer graves. Approaching the oldest part of the site (having started in the area of 1950s) I discovered Bertha Stanfield's headstone featuring a dove representing the Holy Spirit. Bertha died in November 1905, then as I photographed Bertha's memorial I glanced over and noticed Henry Rogers (DoD April 1905) both had doves sculptured into their marble headstones, both over 100 years old and still in reasonable condition. Both appeared to be in a Church of England section. I wonder if that is significant for heritage graves featuring doves.
Thanks for the locationless.

Spotted lots of birds while wandering around the Woden Cemetery. Budgerigars, wrens, magpies, parrots and a few doves. I chose this one.

Found this rather sad and very weathered dove on a head stone in the Gerringong cemetery unfortunately all the engraving has faded away and I could not get a name or date.

On our way back from Ralphs Falls this afternoon, we called into the Ringarooma Cemetery. We found two graves with still, silent doves. One grave had a number of similar items and it is a photo of this grave that we have added to the gallery. A closer view of one of the doves has also been included. Thanks TimTamToo for the cache.
These are the only Doves in the Pimpama Uniting Church Cemetery. Lots of Angels here. This grave is a concrete Dove Birdbath.
I walked around the whole cemetery lucky it is an old small one. The earliest burial recorded is 1878. The 4.9 hectares was purchased in 1872. The Historic Original Uniting Church building is still here. This is also where the war memorial is and the soldier that Queenslanders salute when they drive past...it's tradition for us.TFTCTimTamToo

We found this lonesome dove residing at the Cherry Gardens cemetery in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
It belongs to Elsie Scroop, who passed away in February 1931 at the age of 40.
This dove has been sitting here for nearly 86 years!
Thanks TimTamToo.

My incredibly patient geohubby took me to 3 cemetaries hunting for a dove. This was the best we could do, although we were entertained by some of the other headstones we found including a lion, a fish and a mack truck. I hope you will accept this as I am logging it for the summer scavenger series. If not let me know and I will change this to a note. I liked the idea that William is flying free at last and I hope he didn't mind the visit. thank you TimTamToo

I spent time exploring Traralgon Cemetery today and almost came up empty handed! I found a magpie, owls and a robin but no doves. I found some that were images on a gravestone but then this little fellow was spotted amongst a collection. TFTC TimTamToo

Out and about for the Summer Scavenger Series 2016 and located this dove.
Found this cache with the family whilst on a holiday in Tasmania.
It's a rather large white bird. I reckon it's a dove...just a touch overweight.

Walked around Springwood cemetery with the kids looking for white birds. Plenty of angels, and a kookaburra...but we found what we needed. Here is mine

I have been looking for this one for awhile now and must admit that I missed seeing this one in the Nanango Cemetery till now.
I journeyed to another Cemetery and found a few then it was suggested I have a good look in the local Cemetery first as
I could only claim this one once. Just off the path not that far inside the Entry off Carins Street nanango Qld. TFTL TIMTAMTOO

Found these doves while out caching around the Marburg Cemetery, Qld.
While caching in the Adelong Cemetery, we found a white dove on top of one of the graves. The graves in here are really cool, I guess we were just lucky to find this one.

I keep looking for them, and once thought I finally found some but no, they're were just little angels or cherubs... [sigh]
Found these three doves while out caching with Oldsaint
Like quiet1_au I too had been searching for awhile.
Then while completing a nearby cache I spotted this one.
Freshwater Creek Cemetery is situated just west of Geelong in Vic.
Bizarelly I noticed that I took this photo exactly a year ago!!
Better a late log than never.

Luckily this was a pretty quick find. As I wandered through the cemetery looking along the rows, I spotted this dove about 10 rows in.

This was tougher than I thought it was going to be. There were lots of angels but eventually I found a dove
Thanks for the cache Tim Tam and the interesting time spent wandering around a graveyard

Felt a bit odd putting the gps on the grave but will go back if necessary. This was a very elaborate gravesite-very sad really.

Day eleven of our excursion out of Tasmania touring from Melbourne to Canberra and return via Gippsland was marked by the very dense fog in Canberra but this cleared very quickly into clear blue skies and virtually no wind – excellent caching conditions. We started by looking for a couple of puzzle caches in Canberra (plus some traditional along the way) and then we headed north to Yass, caching only in the New South Wales part of the drive. Again we had a very enjoyable touring and caching daY.
Whilst we were visiting the Yass cemetery to view Hamilton Hume's grave, we came across this rather forlorn dove. Originally the dove was under a glass dome but that had been broken and now the dove is at the mercy of the elements. TFTC TimTam

Was looking for a trad cache nearby, and also any weeping angels (an archived cache that I thought was still active) when I came across this one.
Thanks for the cache, Tim Tam!
