Description

This cache is located in a beautiful part of the state. Access is via Mt Cameron Fire Trail, the track is more suited to 4WD vehicles or 2WD's with high clearance, shrubs also overhang the track. The turnoff is at S40 58.840  E148 00.993 where you can park and walk approx 600m to GZ if in the family sedan. Near GZ there is earthquake recording equipment (hence the name) along with communication towers. On a clear day take in awesome views of Flinders Island.

A day off and decided to escape to NE Tasmania and then on to my parents to catch up with them after returning from the mainland
I came to this location looking for an GC cache and noticed a GCA cache so decided to stop and grab that as well.

A tad windy up here today but after a short walk from the car it was a quick spot and added our names after a couple of muggle logs. Other than that the cache is in good nick and a great place to bring people.

Thankd TT

As we were in the Ratmobile we were able to drive to the top. It was sunny but very windy up here today. I was worried about my hair getting messed up Doh. We looked for this cache before trying out luck at the GC one. SSR was first on the scene at THIS tree, so I went to find another one Whistle
Thanks Tassie Trekkers

Found in the company of Toolbox and VK7HCH, on our 4 day NE trip.
Only found this one because I clicked found for the other cache and this popped up on my GPSr.
Thanks for the cache!

Up here doing maintenance on my nearby cache, noticed this GA cache not far away, so went searching in the wind and rain. GPS jumping around a bit, but eventually found it.

No problems getting to GZ...the RAV4 had a bit of fun. Once parked, it was a short walk to GZ where the cache was found without issue.

A great spot, if a little hazy from the bush fires. Thanks TT.....

Hi Trekkers
No trouble finding this one.
Even the little Corolla with its low profile tyres enjoyed the last 600m.
Enjoyed the hunt, the find; Sainting the cache at 1257hrs.
Bon Voyage and SAFE travels.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

A quick find in the bush. Who would have thought an earthquake measuring device would be needed here? Would never have visited this spot but for the chance of a find! TFTC

#GA9 - 13:30; Another pleasant exploration of an area passed many times over the years without actually coming in to visit. Cache was snug and safe, but in the absence of visits during 2012, unloved Crying or Very sad . Given the accessibility of the track in, hopefully 2013 will see more visitors. Surprised

Great spot for a cache but why there for the eartquake measuring? Was the ground underneath about to quake or is the area prone to tremors? Good view. TFTC. TNLN.

It was a cloudy day with rain in the offering when we arrived. Unfortunately the weather limited the visibility. We were able to drive (4WD Toyota wagon, normal sedan clearance) into the communications towers without any problems - few deepish ruts but room to straddle them. Coordinates were spot-on. An excellent hide blending into the surroundings. We were surprised that we were the first to get here but suppose that the area is not on normal commuter routes. Claim FTF at 10:15am. We would have loved to have a look at the earthquake monitoring equipment but it was well secured. TFTC Tassie Trekkers
