Day 7 of the great trip north to Townsville with LuckyL10n and today we left Nebo to see how far we could get....hopefully Townsville. After finishing the nearby military series, this was our next stop. A neat little location, however once at the actually, there wasn't much left of the cache. As I don't like to see GA caches just die, we left a replacement cache with nice new log. The cache was covered to avoid too much sun, so hopefully all will be good for the next visitors.

Thanks for the cache and the reason to stop Journeyman 53. Always good to find of these older caches.

#GA5608 - 13:45; Day seven of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. After a night in Nebo, we decided to press on to Townsville today. Polished off quite a few more in a GC series, then headed north with the occasional caching stop. This was the first and after a short search, we turned up the metal spiral from the log book and a disintegrating part of the front cover. Probably no surprise as the cache has been in place for almost 11 years and the only find before today was nearly nine years ago! A replacement has been put into position and awaits more finders! A great place to stop off on the way to Townsville via the backroads. TFTC Journeyman53 Very HappyClan Cerberus

I was cruising along the Bowen Developmental Road mid afternoon and not really expecting any caches to show themselves.
I happened to glance at the GPS and there it was Very Happy
A stray geocache symbol out in the middle of nowhere Big Grin
Good timing too, I needed a break after the long drive from Bowen.
From the side of the main road I strolled the couple of hundred metres to GZ.
I was surrounded by long grass and a few Ironbarks.
One IB in particular marked GZ and I looked around for any sign of a cache.
Nup !! Nothing to see here !!
After standing around scratching me head for a couple of minutes I decided this cache was either not here or unfindable Shocked
For no reason than idle curiosity, I picked up a rock lying next to the Ironbark.
Beneath it, in the dirt a glint of familiar Sistema Blue caught my eye.
Some excavation and there, underneath an inch of dirt was the outline of a cache Smile
I cleaned it off and set about opening it.
Surely the inside was a yucky mess !!
There was some dampness, but due to the well sealed plastic baggies inside, the contents were dry as the day the cache was hidden.
I found a FTF prize, still unclaimed ?
Then I opened the logbook and found it unsullied by any finders !!
Crikey !! A FTF for “If” Dancing
It's been a while !!
TFTC

Maybe this cache can celebrate it's fourth anniversary by being found again !! Wink
