Description
A virtual dinosaur was placed at this location for National Science Week 2011 - it will apparently be there at least until the end of August. You will need a smartphone, the current version of the Layar app and the Jurassic Science Week layer to see the virtual dinosaur.
To log this cache, post a photo of a dinosaur at the location during your visit there. The dinosaur can be the virtual one or plastic or plush or pictorial or whatever you choose.
If you enjoy virtual dinosaurs, you might also like to visit the following one near by. We have not listed it as a separate virtual cache due to the close proximity to the parasaurolophus. Chungkingosaurus at 42 54.143, 147 19.674
Enjoy the virtual Jurassic age - either virtual or DIY!

hi DDTs thanks for this virtual cache, and having just done it's nearby mate, getting the pic of the virtual dino was somewhat easier and much quicker.
Thanks for the fun.
Great that the Jurassic images are still available!

One final dinosaur capture for our Christmas adventure. We always like to save a few for 'ron to maximise our enjoyment over time. Actually this one was our first find but we failed to capture the beastie in the correct manner due to technological gremlins & he escaped our clutches. After they got sorted it was back to his hidey hole to tie him down good & proper. Thanks heaps DDTs for something a whole lot different to eclipse tins. We had so much fun finding these virtuals we'll be back to do some more!

This was a fun little virtual cache where I found these with mummmy, Jessica and caughtatwork. Thanks for this cache here today.
Out with the family on a week in Hobart and before lunch we decided to go and find some dinosaurs. I remember when these were first published and was very envious that they were so far away. Today we loaded up the app, grabbed the layer and we were off to see what we could find. We found a lot today and they were all very cool and fun to catch. Thanks for this series of virtual caches with a difference.

Surprised to find these virtual dinosaurs still roaming the streets of Hobart. Today we managed to capture their image and grab a smilie. Thanks DDTs for our dinosaur encounter we enjoyed the experience.

Have been wanting to do these virtuals for a long time and today was the day technology and the dinosaur gods aligned. Had lots of fun. TFTV

While out grabbing a few caches to start the new year off myself and Goose of GooseandEgg discovered a few Dinos on our travels.

Obviously dinosaurs are not extinct, they are just hibernating. This one has been asleep for nearly 4 years but SSR and I woke him (or her) and some friends today. We had good fun finding a few of these today. I wish I had taken the kids, they would have loved it! TFTC

Ha! It's still here. I feared it might be extinct ... or that I'd have to give up after pfaffing around with the software because I couldn't figure out how to take a photo (you'd think the camera button might do that, but no!). I found it on my lunchtime walk and have left the other one for another day (and the other several for several other days elsewhere). I have to say it was kind of cool having it appear on the screen ... and I bet the owner of the white car is relieved about the critter's virtualness. Thanks DDTs for the cache (and science week for the virtual dinosaurs).
We have absolutely loved this series and finally got the last three we needed to get today. The uni had a cricket match going on at the oval near this dinosaur which made for some interesting antics but the dinosaur was found. He had a couple of friends with him watching the cricket as well. TFTC and series.
I was in the neighbourhood and finally made the time to find my first virtual dinosaur. I'm glad these virtual ones haven't gone extinct yet! TFTC!
Spotted this dino coming out of the building, just after we spotted the other nearby one coming out of my rear view mirror!
I don't have an appropriate device for running the required application, nor do I have a pet dinosaur to bring with me. I hope that a photo taken in the appropriate location showing lack of dinosaur activity is sufficient for logging a find on this cache.
I spent a lot of my earlier life here - coming back now with all the changes makes me feel like a dinosaur!
I had to have a couple of goes at this one as I kept on getting the wrong Lizard
Hello Again!!
Down where all the intellegences gather, this Parasaurolophus was watching a game of football being played on the footy ground at the Tas Uni.
I wonder if he is as intellegent as they all think they are?
Like to see him go through the doors of some of the nearby buildings. I think the result would be "catasautrophic!"
It was great to do a cache with so many muggles around and not have to use stealth to extract the cache. They were enthralled in watching the football game.
Can't tell you won the football match, but this guy wondered off up to Franklin Square later and had a game of chess.
TFTC and cheers; OldSaint.

A beautiful day where else would you be? I actually found this guy in Franklin Square not sure what he was doing there must have gone looking for Ice Cream
Edited 30/8/11 to add I had a look in the natural habitat of the Parasaurolophus and located him all good

Found both dinosaurs here
What a great idea and concept.
I just did a search from my office desk and there is heaps of street art around me (and even exactly where I am sitting)
I have attached a photo of Geo Kid O & E with the parasaurolophus and another photo of geokid E with the nearby dinosaur (Chungkingosaurus)
Thanks for the great cache and introducing me to the virtual program - its great

Nothing like a Parasaurolophus outside a university to make you stop and say WOW !! ... funny thing is ... not one of the intelligent students wandering past can see it
Thanks for the cache DDT's
