Description

A virtual dinosaur was placed at this location for National Science Week 2011 - it will apparently be there at least until the end of August.  You will need a smartphone, the current version of the  Layar app and the Jurassic Science Week layer to see the virtual dinosaur.

To log this cache, post a photo of  your visit to gz that includes a dinosaur and something scientific (other than a dinosaur).  Please give an explantion if the scientific object is not immediately obvious! The dinosaur can be the virtual one or plastic or plush or pictorial or whatever you choose.

A bit of a fun virtual! Spotted more than one peskylittlesaurus here. Had to leave quickly before getting gobbled up! TFTC!
Cheers,

Mr T happened across this dino checking out the inhabitants of a tourist bus. Not sure how he got up there but he looked hungry. TFTC

We found this trodon a slippery beast to catch. There he is! Nope, he's run off again. We finally nabbed him attempting to break into the museum. Off to the lockup with you, though we think he may only be a juvenile.

This was a fun little virtual cache where I found these with mummmy, Jessica and caughtatwork. Thanks for this cache here today.

Out with the family on a week in Hobart and before lunch we decided to go and find some dinosaurs. I remember when these were first published and was very envious that they were so far away. Today we loaded up the app, grabbed the layer and we were off to see what we could find. We found a lot today and they were all very cool and fun to catch. Thanks for this series of virtual caches with a difference.

Surprised to find these virtual dinosaurs still roaming the streets of Hobart. Today we managed to capture their image and grab a smilie. Thanks DDTs for our dinosaur encounter we enjoyed the experience.

Have been wanting to do these virtuals for a long time and today was the day technology and the dinosaur gods aligned. Had lots of fun. TFTV

Luckily there was a break in the traffic when this Trodon decided to cross the road. Very fitting that it was heading to the museum! TFTC

While out grabbing a few caches to start the new year off myself and Goose of GooseandEgg discovered a few Dinos on our travels.

23-Sep-15
I was out for a walk and came across this dinosaur. The museum was closed so the most scientific thing around was my GPS.
If this is unacceptable, let me know.
Thanks DDTs for the virtual.

23-Jun-15
Dropped in for a dinosaur hunt after breakfast this morning. Took my pic before heading off in search of another. TFTC

I arrived here with my bag of dinosaurs at 18:15 and wondered what I could pose them with that was scientific. Then I figured GPSr, satellites, signals, calculations (cache Wink ) Dancing and that all sounds pretty darn scientific to me. Very Happy

Thanks DDTs.

We had a great time doing some webcam and virtual caches in Hobart this morning. Thanks for organising the fun for us!

12-Apr-12
After finding our first dinosaur yesterday, we made a point of trying to find the ones we walked past today.
These dinosaurs are an awesome idea. I wonder how many other Layar programs work around here.

16-Dec-11
Was walking about town with my dinosaur so stopped by the museum for this one. They're doing some works, so this entrance isn't open at the moment. Thanks DDT's.

Was with Swampy when we found this so check out his photo Smile

This juvenile Troodon was found outside the city's collection of natural science...

21-Oct-11
We brought our pet Trodon for a visit.

16-Oct-11
I don't have an appropriate device for running the required application, nor do I have a pet dinosaur to bring with me. I hope that a photo taken in the appropriate location showing lack of dinosaur activity is sufficient for logging a find on this cache.

21-Sep-11
Was in the city after dark and thought we'd go looking for a couple of these dinosaurs hoping they'd be a little quieter and easier to capture for a picture during the hours of darkness. They never sleep! Spotted us as soon as we arrived. Took a snap before we got snapped up ourselves and off we went and a hastened pace. These caches are great fun. Thanks so much for the adventure. TFTC.

As scientific as I could get, given that he was trying to climb into the car!

27-Aug-11
Thanks for the experience

Number 6
This Troodon caught jumping on a car.

26-Aug-11
Found this dinosaur on a walk around the water front and city before having dinner with relatives.

This was a challenge to find as again he wanted to run away, and then was changing size, starting small and then big and then medium

Geo Kid I finally got her picture with a dinosaur, and was holding my Geo wifes iphone up as a techincal instrument..... well almost.

Geo wife had the dinasour on her shoulder at first, but I was unable to get a photo in time.

Thank you for the cache - these are great

Back Again!!
Well, went inside to look for this guy where it appeared to the others but now I'm sure the images move from on spot to another sometimes.
This carnivore is about to pounce!!!
Does he want the mother or the younger more tender toddler? He's coming from down wind and behind in a perfect ambush manouvre. Had to turn the camera off then because I just couldn't watch the impending doom.
Went outside and saw a Parasaurolophus about to take a bight out of this ladies head. Who said they ate plants? I'm not so sure any more!!
How much fun can we have with these things?
TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

He is very secretive, but we found this little fellow wandering around inside ! Cool
His T-Rex friend had fun looking at some things I think he thought was food ! Laughing
Thanks for the cache, DDTs ! Very Happy
