Description
I've Cached Everywhere, Man - GCA Geocache Series |
I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack. Tamborine is mentioned in the second verse.
Tamborine is a hotspot on the weekend for those living or holidaying in Brisbane or the Gold Coast who want to stretch their legs on one of the many bushwalks in the area. The name is of aboriginal origin, and has no link to the musical instrument.
There are some nice drives around Mount Tamborine if you can afford a couple of hours.

The cache is a small lock and lock container with a logbook, pencil and some swaps.

Checked on this one today. Still going strong with its original container 12 years later.
Exploring the area in search of GCA caches and trigs today. Your cache was in our target area and one we found along the way.
Nice to find another cache in the ICEM series.
Many thanks MattyRx for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Out today for another pre-work mini adventure! This was my first stop on route to Tamborine Mountain Botanical Gardens and Cameron Falls. I only recently discovered this series. It’s a great idea. Cache found in good condition albeit a little wet but it didn’t take much to dry things out. Replaced as found. I think I left a really good pen next to the stump. It’s a good one so if you find it and it still works, you’re welcome haha. Thanks for the cache

My first GA cache in Queensland. I have tried on a previous occasion but been unsuccessful. This cache was well and truely buried and ants had made their home in the soil and leaf debris above the cache. The log was damp but not too wet and I was able to be signed. TFTC and keeping these caches alive!

Day 4 of a 5 day caching run around south east Queensland with LuckyL10n.
After leaving Nanango we headed for Brisbane via Toowoomba and stopped to grab to the GCA caches that were in the area of our travels. Being a bit of a fan of the ICEM series, this cache was must get. Once at GZ, a little fossicking was required, but pleased to say the cache was soon in hand. Log was signed, cached replaced and it was time to check out Beaudesert...our stop over point before hitting Brissy airport for the flight tomorrow.
Thanks Mattyrx....another ICEM off the list.

#GA3003 - 13:35; Today it was time for the geotribe and I to head for the hills and so it was we made our way up and along the winding road and through multiple lots of roadwork to Tamborine Mountain. After a stop near the top, we had just passed through Tamborine when I stopped off to grab this cache on the way past. Located the cache in excelent condition and have added my name to the log. Nice to collect another in this series. TFTC Mattyrx

Quick speed down to Tamborine after cleaning up at Logan Village...so so so glad this was not up the mountain..I do not think my car would have made it. It was puffing out smoke already after driving to here from Logan Village. I saw the GZ as I drove past and I pulled into the side street and jogged down the road. Quick find. signed log and bolted back to the car to get back home to Springwood.
I have had enough of these long roads down here...hahaha..poor car.

Out and about doing some geocaching today. This one fits nicely in the Christmas in July Challenge. TFTC
Nice to see after all these years its still there. We certainly were not stumped with this one and as I stared into the abyss I wondered how many layers of 'stuff' I'd have to dig through to find the cache. The short answer is only one. Its almost as if the cache has its own guardian angel considering the lack of finds.
Its nice to cross another ICEM off my list.
Thanks for the cache.

I was in the area to get a FTF on a new cache and decided that I would get a couple more while I was here.
This one appeared on the GPS so I headed down to get it.
I searched the spot where the GPS was heading me and after failing there I read the hint and moved to a spot about 10m away but didn't find it there so I moved back to the original spot again and searched again with the same result.
I then read the previous logs and found that it had not been found since Oct '12 so it could have been covered by nature.
I returned to the hinted area and did a more thorough search and uncovered the cache along with a nest of ants. I dropped the cache to free it from their clutches and then opened it to find that it was all fine inside.
Thanks MattyRx. I enjoy finding ones from this series as I travel around.

Another ICEM for us, though with the amount of towns in that song we've hardly scratched a verse. TFTC MattyRX

When we noticed this cache it went onto our "must find" list. We enjoy the series as it takes you yo many different places throughout the country. Having got to GZ, a quick find was made. We have now found ICEM caches in four states and placed ten in Tassie. TFTC
I was heading towards the Birnam Range Reserve area to check out some new caches.
The Tom Tom took me via Mount Tamborine (which was just one big cloud this morning) and back down the hill.
A short detour and this cache was found.
Thanks for the cache MattyRx. A great idea for a series of caches.
I left a GCA lanyard for the next finder to wear with pride. Merry Christmas.

On the way back down the mountain I managed to convince the family that we needed to come this way to collect this cache. We parked on the nearby side road and walked the short distance down to where we thought it was. The geowife said that she thought it was in a spot but followed the magic arrow past that spot. On my way past, I looked at where she said and saw something that didn't seem quite right. Looking closer I spotted the familiar glint of cache. Calling them back, I happily signed the log and then unhappily replaced it as the geoson disturbed a neat of rather large ants that are living in the cache hiding structure
Thanks for the cache MattyRx

Yay! FTF at 11.10am. Surprised it was still here and delighted to get it. Had to do something to take my mind off the 48 hour liquid fast before anaesthetic tomorrow. Nothing like chasing a FTF to take complete control of a geocacher's mind.
Since I'm unlikely to get to NT or any of the other places on this series it's great to get two FTFs close to my home base.
great idea for a series Matty Rx. I took pathtag and left a couple swaps.
