Description
This locationless cache is dedicated to the band of Frogs, Toads and Tadpoles that are travelling the roads and billabongs of Australia during the Leap Frog Race starting on the 1st of December 2011 and the dedicated cachers who carry out the recovery and repair of the Frogs, Toads and Tadpoles.
To log this cache, you must have repaired, revived or reclaimed a Frog, Toad or Tadpole taking part in the Moving Cache race starting on the 1st of December 2011. Record on the admissions register the Name & Number (GA Number) of the patient, and the injury sustained by these road warriors.
Upload a picture of the injury sustained and the repairs carried out to send the frog, toad or tadpole back into the race.
Feel free to log this cache prior to this years race, FTF will only be available after the race has started.
Logs
Only a small repair but when I found pearl her log retainer had come loose and came completely off when I removed it to get at the log. Tonight a couple of new bits of Velcro and Pearl will be able to hold onto her log container for quite a while longer.
Thanks Black Bunny for the smiley.
Luckily Mr red tag is a veterinary surgeon and so Princes5 was admitted into hospital and put under an anaesthetic. His condition was bad so he was put on an IV drip and many monitoring devices as well (as the picture shows). He underwent a lengthy and very tough surgery but pulled through and made a full recovery. He spent a few days in recovery and was then released back into the race.
Thanks for the cache Black Bunny
Squeaky has since rejoined his log container and is all well.
Jeremiah on arrival
Jeremiah ready to hop
All went well and he is now on his way to more adventures.
Philbert on arrival
Philbert now ready to leave
GA4079 GEOseppi Frog II - his knee cap broke off as Mr AusTrackers pulled him out of the hidey hole. Will fix him up and have him on his way ASAP.
And he wouldn't leave his nurse alone
The Unkissed Prince GA3746 has a bad case of falling arches.
That is the slippery little beast slithered out of my grasp and fell.
He now has a broken foot.
Having entered the casualty ward he has been transferred to the extreme podiatry unit for surgery.
Events can get a bit like that.
Lucky for him a quick trip to the Clwydd Hospital fixed him right up and he is back to his old tricks.
Before and after photos!
However his stay here could not be too long so surgery had to be a bit rushed to get him back in the race. He is now much stronger and ready to leave the Hospital in the morning.
PF will have to return at some time in the future to receive further treatment but for now he is OK to travel with some care.
PF on arrival after his first aid (Nice work by the way).
PF ready to resume his travels.
He has now fully recovered and will leave tomorrow.
Squeaky on arrival
Squeaky healed
He has now fully recovered and will leave tomorrow.
Phreddo on arrival

Frog Hollow
Leura, NSW
My role in the 'Leap Frog Hospital' was one of first aide attendant and ambulance officer. I checked him out, made sure all the pieces were collected, and then organised transport from Rouse Hill to the Clwydd Hospital for Gnomes and Leap Frogs!
So his injury was a kind of 'severe head fracture' -- I guess! (There may be a better medical technical term.)
Photo will be uploaded in the next couple of hours, showing the 'first aide' in progress, in my Leura workshop, halfway to Clwydd.
Am sure that the experienced Clwydd staff will be able to cure poor Frog Hollow in no time at all!
Sorry Political Froggy!!
The frog that needed immediate nursing care before going back into the race from the pits was "Toad In The Hole" (GA3931).
The poor croaker had dropped his "BOTTOM" stick upon which to sit. However, some super glue applied to the stick and in was back in his bum hole.
I found the blighter at S43 01.310 E147 15.289 and have rehidden him at S43 00.129 E147 04.187. Repairs were effected at my parent's home in Huonville, Tasmania.
Cheers and thanks for the cache
OldSaint.
Please find attached the evidence of his detachment, he's letting the glue dry now, but is keen to get back out into that windy Melbourne air, so he might just seek his next hiding hole with some additional bandages.
Back story..Puddle Jumper is a candle, made of wax. Swampy took some time to repair him. PJ was quietly hiding out under a tree. Thats when we came along....
We placed PJ in the car and off home we went. At the gate DGT had to get out to open it and unbeknowns to her PJ hopped out. PJ had not hopped very far and GU ran over him! You can see PJ's remains in the attached photos.
Due to the extent of PJ's damage he was unable to be repaired, but...we have placed him in an Eclipse coffin so he can continue in the race!
Well... Namaste (GA3898) was attending the Froggy Frolic event with all the other WA frogs (Total of 51 Frogs & 5 Gnomes turned up)
During one of the races (Frog Under & Over's) Namaste got poked in the eye. Following an inspection of injury, a search was carried out to see if we could locate any "Bits"... A couple were found but the frog was in need of some serious surgery. FelixII returned this one home and admitted into the head injury ward for stabilisation.
A more detailed inspection revealed that the damage was "more than just a poke in the eye" Several specialists were consulted and Namaste was soon under going re-construction surgery.
Due the extent of the injury a metal insert was required.
This was inserted & Namaste was left to REST while the araldite cured.
The next procedure then commenced with the gradual re-construction of the eye. Several layers later & Namaste was nearly finished.
Some cosmetic work was then carried out and....
"NAMASTE" LOTUS FROG had undergone a full recovery and was discharged ready to LEAP ONWARDS.

Bit of liquid nails to the rescue!
Lawrance and his mate Frog Morton were found together, and kept together. It seems they both took a shine to Lilly and had a falling out - Lawrance tried to give Frog Morton the boot but came off second best...
A lick of ye olde super glue and Lawrance is almost as good as new (just a slight limp)
One required some waterproofing, the second needed it's feather (!) reattached and the third kept loosing it's footing inside a sistema container.
The frog with the worst injuries though, was Puddle Jumper GA4057. This little frog had lost his magnet and a front foot. Easy to fix you say. Puddle jumper is made of wax and superglue won't stick. The hot melt electric glue gun was put to use to fix him and the other 3.
The hardest part was timing it. If the glue is at it's normal temperate when put onto the wax, it the wax melts. I found the best way was to heat up the glue until it just started to melt and unplug the glue gun. Then there was just enough time to get the front leg glued and attached before gluing on the magnet on the base. All up it took about 30 minutes to repair all four.
I never knew wax was so difficult to work with ....
Pictures to follow (the phone won't let me upload them)
This frog was drop and shattered. Through the magical powers of healing that frogs seem to have he has reformed into a new form.
Felix has no undergone micro surgery to reattach his limb, the whole operation was very sucessfull and he will be on his way very soon.
While there it became apparent that his other front limb had previously beeen reattached and some cosmetic surgery was done there as well.
felix on arrival after first aid and the extent of his injury
After the first stage of surgery, and full recovery.
Found this guy at Refalo Park with a foot broken off!
The injury wouldn't have been fatal but would have made it harder for the Frog Hunter to catch really fast frogs!
The photos show his injury and how I gave him 'first aid' and fixed him up temporarily.
Then I 'moved' him towards the famous Clwydd Hospital, where I expect that he'll undergo advanced plastic surgery that will make him as good as new!
Coords indicate where I found him . . .
"Umm. There has been a slight... incident, with this frog. All our frogs were stuffed in a bag, ready to be re-hidden, and we were collecting some more in Ulverstone, and stuffing them in the bag as well. And one of them was a big heavy thing. *cough*RumandCroak*cough* And he sort of, er, sat on some of the smaller frogs. And Trust a Frog got a bit... crushed. "
Thankfully, all pieces were able to be recovered and put back together in about ten minutes with superglue.
Trust a Frog was back out admiring the views on 16th December.
Oh... and with this little accident I happily claim my 200th GCA find!!

Tonight I retrieved The Sistema Twins (GA4038) and they both tried to escape the race. I've reattached them to their cache container with the only suitable glue I could find (a contact-adhesive for leather shoe repairs) - it seems to have slowed down their escape attempt - but I fear they're still plotting their next escape plan... (I forgot to photograph them before/after repairs)
"Nearly walked past but decided to have a look in a likely spot, removed the insulation and then extracted the frog, very carefully because he said he had a headache. Frog a Log joined us in the cachemobile with some other frogs he'd met before and got so excited that his head exploded!
Frog a Log will need some downtime with the medico in the shed before his next move. Will be out and about again as soon as possible."
Frog a Log received some love and support from the Gray Nurse Frog in the garden during his recovery from surgery in the shed and is now ready to continue his adventuring. Photos attached.
The Day Prior Misterdrewkittytoo team were out hunting frogs in the onkaparinga gorge national park we had found 3 frogs and we had just sat down to have a look a them when misterdrew thought it might be a good idea to get the lid off the cache by pulling on the frog needless to say it didn't end well has has just been in surgery to fix this and he hopes to be back on the road soon
Perhaps it was a headache from his injuries - he certainly seems to have been in the wars judging by all the bandaids and bandages!
He is a flat magnetic frog that attaches to Road Signs drawn by his owner (Spladem) and he had faded completely. I was in the process of redrawing him when I remembered this cache so scanned him in - the black lines are what I had redrawn so far ..... the very pale lines are what were left of his original drawing lol. The next photo is the redrawn version - not 100% the same but the best I could do lolol
Don't remove 2 frogs from the car at once.
Misery, sorry Spladem
GA3196 #2 Hows ya Hamish Frog Burger?
Will be on the mend in the mornin!!
i was sitting logging some caches when the phone rang it was a very distraught Mrs Froghoppin there's smoke coming from my engine ahhh now it has flames coming out the fire brigade have just arrived my comment im on the way the bee was very quickly on its way to help a frog in distress while heading there we talked again and the realization that my leap frog that had been collected from in Adelaide was still in the burning car on arrival i checked reason for car fire no it wasnt destroying evidence just bad luck.
now were is the car need to check on frog there he is a few minor burns and smoke inhalation but otherwise all good so a quick patchup and new scafe of red and white fire tape he was put back out into the wild
oh yeah the live frog was okay too.
In retrieving Miss Lbjezza Leap frog I managed to severely spike myself on a bush, so I was also able to claim GA1005 Casualty Ward By Team Bluedog, making this a painful "Three For One" find.
Sadly most of the frogs I hunted had already been collected by other cachers, my entire frog score for the day was one from five, so the three for one was some consolation.

Following consultation with her owner, the following operation was performed at my Frog Restoration Facility.
The taped magnet was removed from her chest.
A bison tube was found to be protruding from her rear end, and this was removed.
A stronger magnet was inserted up her rear end and she was attached upside down magnetically to the side of my steel trailer.
A thin plaster solution was administered to her rear end and when nearly full, the bison tube was reinserted.
A moment of panic ensued when the plaster began to run out a small hole in her mouth and this was resolved by giving her a nail to bite down on.
When the plaster set, she was a new, more robust frog, and she has re-entered the race and is currently recuperating while waiting to picked up from Yering.
What followed was a late night repair job in the back of the van. We had wire, tape, glue and an array of tools - everything required for a mobile leapfrog repair service! Just call the professionals!
It didn't take long to pull him together and send him on his way!
TFTLC and let's hope this is not a popular cache
On out first night out we also attended to 2 pulped log books caused by the heavy rain in Adelaide over the past week!
The photo added to the Gallery shows the injured leap frog, the procedure (being observed by Warts-And-All and Old-Y’s-Gnome) and post operative frog ready to leap again.
Patient admitted to hospital 1st December for a broken foot & leg.
Surgery has been underway and we think he will be ready to race in the morning. pics attached
Discharged from hospital 1st December. At FelixII for recovery!
So, i managed to be the FTF, for the gnome hospital.
Now i am the first one to break one of my froggies
Kind of got a bit too carried away with trying to remove a solar panel, on one of my froggy army battlers.
Well, i'm kind of glad i can now see the insides of one of the frog, which should make it easier to remove the insides of the other frogs!!
EDIT: Race hasnt started yet. Doh!
