Description
Daphne is GabGab's entry in the Leap Frog race for 2011/2012.
Daphne is the Greek goddess of Hunting. She is about 20cm tall and should blend in well with her surroundings. Daphne loves to be found, but please respect her wishes.
If you happen to take a picture of Daphne I would love for you to attach it to your log. Farewell Daphne. I hope you live a long time. |

Live long. Travel far. Be safe. Dropped and ready to find.
OMG!! OMG!! DAPHNE!! I'VE FOUND YOU AGAIN. You've been out for 5 years and i haven't had to archive you luckily. so long in the field with only a couple battlescars. Thanks The Morris for giving caughtatwork and I a pile of caches, which will all be moved soon.
Met The Morris and she handed me a pile of moveable caches. This makes for a very easy transaction and these will all be hidden again very shortly.

Next to a huge frog under the leaf litter
Daphne has headed inland and is enjoying a rest in the country!
Nice to have this one here at my desk in the warmth rather than out in the cold.
thanks LuckyL10n for allowing the visit.

GCA 1097 - 10854. Drive By Moveable as Boot put it !
Spotted in the hands of Sol de lune on the side of Mt. Taylor - therefore a quick find ! Nice to see such an oldie still going (The Frog - not SDL...)
TFTC !!
I find that the moveables are a great addition to geocaching. The fun of chasing them around - sometimes finding them in place - sometimes not - puts a bit more interest on the Geocaching Australia side of things. These games also tend to boost the numbers of moveables around - especially in December and January - perfect time to spend a bit more time caching away in Summer and / or holidays. My favourites tend to be the Gnomes - memories of a misspent childhood come to mind.... Lol.

A drive by moveable! Yes, I found them when they virtually drove by.
Many thanks to LuckyL10n.

#GA599 - 12:35; I've had my eye on this nest of moveables for quite some time and wasn't sure if they would survive the wait until my next visit. Dropped by today on the way to Nowra and found that all was quiet. I managed a thorough inspection which delivered eight moveables and a GCA traditional. I had just finished my work when a family of muggles turned up to use the playground. Fifteen minutes earlier and I may have been snookered! Daphne is off and hopping again. TFTC GabGab

A virtual move as I crossed the border. Lightning Ridge is down the road so every likelihood that's where this will go.
Too hot up here so packing our bags & heading south, don't look here as in my boot.
Daphne was a significant contributor to Gerrynewgirl's Aussie Garden at the Mega which saw first prize go to GNG, with the prize being a Hema HN7 navigator. GNG returned Daphne to me & we are heading north to the Mackay area.
Discovered at the Mega but left there in Stanthorpe for someone else to are for. TFTC.
A Fair Dinkum Aussie is visiting us for a little while.
Stanhorpe Mega area. Do not look here, virtual move.
I had a watch on another moveable which is part of a bunch dropped here. It is a fair way down but I once drove to this rest stop to check on Macca's Mover which had been burnt to a crisp in a bushfire so a trip for 7 could be rationalised. The highway has been upgraded since then as well. A very cool day. I may be travelling this way soon depending on factors but paranoia set in - you never know. The hint got me there.
Hid them the way I found them, together. Accuracy not the best but the hint should help.
One of seven I pulled out of the scrub. Hadn't intended to take it with me but there were workers everywhere sweeping twigs, erecting a new fence plus a helicopter delivering water board equipment so they all jumped in the car with me. Oh well, a new experience.
Just what I need is a goddess of hunting as 2 red bellies have taken up residence in the backyard despite the best efforts of wildlife rescue. There is a frog there which doesn't help. Found as part of a prisoner exchange.
Time to move now on for a train ride to the South Coast.
Don't bother looking, this one is long gone.

What a cutie this one was, sitting prettily on her throne in plain view, poking her head out from her home. She waved at me to come on in, so I did. Daphne absolutely loves gnomeland, so I left here where she was.

Daphne has managed to escape from the depredations of the Federales and is still in place at home.
Found after a very interesting walk/scramble/ sorta climb down, hidden under the rock outcrop with a tree growing out, tucked away nicely, a bit difficult to perch while signing the log but just managed it.
Headed off with Albida and Mtrax for (another) visit to the Gnome Gnation to see a few new residents. Although word on the way established a few had already taken off for greener, yet colder, pastures, we continued with our plan and still managed to catch up with quite a few of the recent arrivals.
Our plan this time was not a mass round up, but that doesn't mean future trips wont include a complete clean out. Time, and re-enforcements, will dictate future retrieval missions.
Thanks for this one.....

Blue Mountains GCA trip with Sol de Lune and Mtrax. We headed off to visit the Gnome Gnation area on Mt Piddington. We had some bad news on the way up that several had been retrieved yesterday, but we persisted and I managed to find 13 moveables, two GA Trads and two Trigs. The area up here is amazing. Dense bush opening out onto huge vistas and quite a bit of clambering to get to some as well. A great day, but now I have to chase a pile more locally. Thanks
Albida
Albida
Left where it was!
The eleventh of twelve movables found at Mt Piddington today.
After climbing down the steps we went up the crack for the find. after we had first gone up another crack, then this one, then back to the first one and then back to this one!!! We combined as a daisy chain to do the logging!?!

Slight mix up with this one, the hiding spot was checked, but the hint for our previous find was in mind. Once we had the right clue, we searched the spot again & had Daphne in hand.
Left for the next finder.

Daphne has joined with a group of disenchanted Gnomes in the occupation of this tract of land, the aim being to secede from Australia and create their own independent country.
However with Gnomes in charge this may turn into a dictatorship, it remains to see if emmigration is greater than immigration.

Daphne has joined a mass exodus of moveables led by renegade Gnomes, who knows what they plan to do? They are all in hiding for now while hatching their nefarious plans. No point looking for any of them they are nowhere to be found until they are ready to reveal their ultimate goal.

Daphne has been taken for another ride further up the Blue Mountains to meet with a new cacher.

Daphne's come on a long trip and is now exploring the Blue Mountains
We are in Bendigo for a few days and dropped by to meet young Daphne this afternoon. I think she might like a bit of a trip actually
There are 3 gnomes and frogs here. They are together in a plastic bag between the 2 peppercorn trees, against the wall, just under some peppercorn litter. They are next to the lump of concrete.
This lady is keeping some bad company - frogs, gnomes and automobiles. Thanks for sharing her Gab Gab
Dropped off today but dont go looking as it has already been picked up.

It's been a while since this guy was found and moved, so we've taken him away and she'll be out very shortly for some new adventures.
Took nothing, left nothing.

I found this cache with caughtatwork today. We brought all the caches home and have logged them into our closest hiding place. caughtatwork has picked them all up already, so there is nothing there to find. It was fun to find my own cache now that the race is over. We will place Daphne back out shortly.

There seldom seems to be any GCA caches placed out my way and I've gotten out of the habit of checking for them - so it was a bit of a surprise when I did a check the other day and found there was not 1, but 4 of them all within easy walking distance of home. I felt a bit of exercise was in order this afternoon, so I took my camera and went for a walk and did them all and checked on a couple of my caches at the same time. I gather the game these caches were involved in is now over so, as I didn't have a bag to carry them, I left them where they were - but I may retrieve some of them to move on at a more convenient time for me.

Thanks GabGab

The girls were having so much fun that they couldn't stop at just 4 finds, and insisted on going to hide them again as well! Oh well - ok... Smile Drove the car as far as they'd let me to a park that had good hiding potential where we rehid the entire lot....
Overall, a great way to fill in the arvo!

Child-minding a bunch of the cousins today at our place, so we decided to keep the three young girls amused with some caching - We've knocked off our locals but fortunately there was a nearby park filled with frogs and gnomes. Perfect! All took turns in using the GPSr and they were all found pretty swiftly with much laughter and excitement. Great stuff!

I wanted to try to entice someone to come grab these for one more move before the game ends so here they are. Come on down for a nice walk along the Koonung Creek and a nice easy find on 6 frogs and a gnome.
The little lady wanted to be closer to the water so took up a spot on the creek side of the path. Thanks GabGab for the frog.

Grabbed on my last lunchtime frog run of the season. Not a bad 90 minutes out with 6 frogs and a gnome. A quick grab with no muggles around. Will drop off in eastern suburbs hopefully tonight.
Left this little frog to continue it's journey good luck Daphne
realised this was so close to home so grabbed on the way to hallam. played at some kids play centre for a while before finding a reserve to go sit in for a while
We are staying in Somers for a week on holidays so after a hot day down here we had Pizza at Balnarring and then drove up to last years Gnome hotspot on the Mornington Peninsula - Seawinds where it was much cooler by now! Daphne was happy to jump out of the bag into a mini Conifer tree in a lovely part of the gardens.
New Year's Day Leapfrog swap - Daphne took a shine to the still lily pond here after the flowing brown Yarra and Fallon was keen to investigate other waterways.
Third time lucky! Grabbed this morning trying to do some caches early to beat the heat. Log scroll a little damp so I'll dry it out before moving her on tomorrow. Swapped for Lilypad Leemo
I found her sitting as described in the hint. Only it was on the wrong side of the Yarra. A week ago I had tried for this one and suspected that she would be over at the Studley Park Boathouse as there were a number of retaining walls visible so I went over there to have a look. I had no success with that but the kids and I returned today with new co-ordinates and while a man fished nearby we signed the log.

Didnt have time to go back to relocate it but had look at google map and noticed that it was hiding on the wrong side of the river.
I can see the platform near a bridge where I was hiding around there.

After work I found myself with a few hours spare before I was due home so I made most of the time and went out looking for leapfrog caches and some GC traditional caches that seem to have popped up in the last couple of days. I did not search for very long as I noted the previous post and the hint does not match this location. I believe the co-ords need to be corrected for this cache to be found.

I have describe in the hint but doesnt help..
I'm in Central Coast at the moment.
Will go back to the place where I hide Daphne next week and re coord properly.

Welcome to The Empire's FDG (Frog Dumping Ground)
If I am not going caching on a day after I have grabbed some frogs, I'll dump all my frogs here. It's close enough to my place and not far to travel for the GCA enthusiasts who live in neighbouring suburbs. This should keep more frogs in the game, even if it's not a big move. The park is quiet enough to hide without disturbing too many muggles.
