Description

I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack.

It would appear that "I haven't exactly been everywhere" and so verses 5, 6 and 7 have been added by hookline and Trigg-A-Nomics to cover Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania. The community's grateful thanks go to those geocachers for helping to cover most of the populated (and less populated) parts of Australia.

GCA Verse 5 by hookline

I've cached in Narrogin, Leeuwin, Corrigin, Carnarvon
Kalbarri, Kalgoorlie, Narembeen, Geraldton
Burrup, Manjimup, Munglinup, Kununurra
Gillingarra, Badgingarra, Meekatharra, Peedamulla
Albany, Jindalee, Karijini, Yalgoo
Bindoon, Mingenew, Ningaloo... cached there too!

BADGINGARRA, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The town was gazetted in 1955 and takes its name from nearby Badgingarra Pool. "Badgingarra" is an Indigenous Australian word said to mean "water by the manna gums". The district was originally surveyed in the 1880s, however owing to the widespead presence of poison plants in the area and the soil types, the land was not developed for agriculture. Little settlement occurred until the 1950s, when the use of trace elements such as zinc and copper in fertilisers allowed for farming to occur on the sandy soils around Badgingarra. In 1955 sufficient population growth had occurred for the gazettal of a townsite to support the settlers. In 1959 the state government established the Badgingarra Research Station, to assist farmers in the development of their enterprises. In 1965 a primary school was established, initially operated in the community hall before a new school was built and opened in 1968. The planned development of the Brand Highway 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of the Badgingarra townsite spurred the people of Badgingarra to resolve to shift the townsite so as to lie on the Brand Highway. Today Badgingarra boasts a primary school, tavern , general store and post office, roadhouse and other businesses. It has fine recreational faciliies located at its Community Centre including tennis courts, bowling green, football oval, golf course, parks and playgrounds

The cache itself is accessible by gravel track and there is room at the water tank/ lookout for caravans to park and turn around (1 at a time). Follow the gravel track/ lime green signs for the Woolly Bush Walk track (lime green signs/ arrows) We have also placed a cache on geocaching.com at a nice park and toilet area if you want a break before moving on.

We arrived at Moora yesterday for our long weekend. A little road trip today grabbing a few GC and GA caches.
We haven't been this way for ages so good to have a reason.

Had to hunt around for this one as no blackened rocks to lift up to find the cache. Nearly gave up and called a dnf when I thought I'd look elsewhere. Yayy Dancing the cache. Two others have signed the logbook after If but not logged online.

TFTC Very Happy and we had time to grab an ice-cream before continuing our journey

On a visit to Badgingarra today I headed up the hill Clapping

A nice easy drive in the rain !!
And wandered over to find me a cache Razz

Oh dear !! Shocked
It looks like some twit parked a car right next to GZ and ....
.... set it alight Shocked
Melted metal, rusty car bits and the remains of the steel belts from the tyres litter the blackened and charred area.

It didn't look good for a cache find Rolling Eyes

Some misplaced rocks indicated where the cache was going to be hidden !!
I lifted off the blackened stones and peered in to see a blackened cache container Confused

All OK though !!
The cache escaped the inferno completely intact !! Dancing
The blackened appearance came from the black, paint camo and a coating of ash Very Happy

Inside the cache looks pristine.
I signed the logbook ... the first time that has happened in almost four years ShockedShockedShockedShocked

After a late night/morning caching near Forestdale I came back home and noticed that 3 ICEM caches had been published so got up early, with very little sleep, and came north to do them. Found without problems, which was good, as I was running out of time to return to Perth for a medical appointment.

Thanks FelixII for the cache. *FTF* 12.50pm
