Tassie Trekkers entry in the leapfrog moving cache race

Hop a long frog is a stainglass frog who was bored just sitting around so he left the safety of his home and embarked on a big adventure. Your job is to find him, keep him safe and move him to a new location.

Rules (not guidelines)

  • The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2011 AEDST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2012 AEDSThe game administrators decision is final
  • You can not find and move your own cache during the game period
  • Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
  • There is no limit to the number of times other cachers can find / move the cache provided there are at least two other finds / moves in between
  • If a cacher moves your cache overseas and it remains unfound overseas for 1 week or more, the same cacher may move your cache (within the country or to another country) without breaking the "2 moves" rule

A roam through the bush to find some moveables.
I had put them all into my Motion-X GPS app on my iPhone, which is quite good in that it uses the compass to give you a real direction rather than one based on your movement.
The downside is that it doesn't seem to refresh very often, so it took a bit of overshooting before I found the obvious but sensible hide.

Had a chuckle when I read your log. I also "stopped just short of the river" when hiding him/her. Gravity is a harsh mistress! Very Happy

Found while driving back to Hobart. Mr W stopped just short of the river luckily when retrieving hop a long. TFTF.

Got Hop a Long back out there. No race on now but can't leave a frog lingering for longer than necessary.
Take care when collecting, bank is steep. Take advantage of the concrete!

Collected Hop a Long today from behind a sign in the highlands. Not the first time we've met so we'll get him/her out there again soon. Hopefully we'll find somewhere warmer. Very HappyRibbitQuestionRibbit

Hop A Long is made of glass, the lake shore was edged with shards of glassy ice when Hop A Long discovered his new hiding place. The frost was spectacular, the lake sounded spectacular and the bird life was spectacular on this bitterly cold winter morning. Have fun and hopefully it will not be a long time before you hop on again.

Time to re-acquaint ourselves with Hop a Long Frog. Nice to meet up with frogs in friendlier places than Hockey fields, this time Hop had hidden itself next to the Mersey River right where the platypus feed. Hang on Hop, a frog could become a monotreme meal, its time to go.

Hi Trekkers
Had been in and around the big smoke most of the day before travelling down the Huon to check on the Olds.
Couldn't drive passed this and let it stay there so grabbed it at 1734hrs. It was nice to take a frog from this site rather than putting one there!
Got to the Apple Museum and realised I'd picked up a hitch hiker when I found the cache.
A flip flop (Leech) was making its way across my thigh to my crutch. Don't know why, 'cos at my age he'd have got very little from there but he would have won the SIZE PRIZE. A very quick stop of the car; a piece of paper in hand, a quick snatch and out the window it flew before it could latch onto any thing it shouldn't!
Didn't notice any leeches at ground zero; those dam things are soooo sneaky!
Thanks MakkyBrown for the cache hide, the leech and a near painful blood donation!!!
Thanks Trekkers for the cache;
Cheers OldSaint.

28-Jan-12
Found this frog and many others during a frog raid encompassing The Domain, Howrah, South Hobart and Mount Stuart.
In all, 47 frogs and a gnome were recovered and they will be placed out in the bush tomorrow. Maybe we'll take them to Cockle Creek, NO. Strathgordon or the old Hilton Hotel at Adamsfield! YES. They are good places.

Hi Tassie Trekkers
After doing the rounds of the East Coast and visiting Tooms Lake, I picked this croaker up as he'd been sitting "stumped" for too long.
The find was effected at 1702hrs on the way back to the Peninsula.
TFTC and cheers;
OldSaint.

Found this frog far from where it was placed. It (apparently) hopped into a bag and was put into the NTrailTB and transported to Launceston where it has been partying and seeing in the New Year in comfort at a swank motel room. These partying frogs were given a choice of wine or beer or mixed spirits.....
Once they recover, we will put them back out.

Hid this cool frog in the base of a tree. Had to put well to one side so that the shiny frog frame wasn't visible. There were no ants in this tree so he may get hungry if left too long. Ribbit

Picked this little guy up tonight as it seems he had been forgotten. This is a nice frog symbol. We will move him tomorrow.

From the hockey fields in Devonport
We are happy to report
That our frog has headed East
To where we bury the deceased
And now is camped in Wesley Vale
Ready to hop along the trail....

04-Dec-11
A quick detour off my running track had Hop a Long in hand and ready for more adventures. Hop a Long has been a bit nervous here with all of the hockey played in the venue as hockey sticks are the traditional enemy of cane toads....a type of frog.
Really pretty cache by the way....

Hopalong was keen to continue his journey and hopped under a callistamon next to the hockey centre stand stairs. The thought maybe one of the touch footfallers might also be a frog mover.

01-Dec-11
While hopping along, enjoying the late evening sunlight, Hop-A-Long came across Kermit, Not Anothe(r) Frog and Blue with Bling forming a quartet. After a short performance of quality croaking, Kermit and Not Anothe(r) Frog got a lift and moved on. Hop-A-Long will spend the night with the 2y'stassies and rest before moving on tomorrow.

After missing out on finding the two caches near work, I called into Penguin on the way home and quickly found Hop Along Frog - surprised that he was still waiting to be found. Will claim the FTF. TFTC Tassie Trekkers
