Description
This is one of two webcams that have been placed on the Race Control tower of the Canberra Yacht Club. This one points in a north easterly direction and has the National Museum and the corner of Commonwealth Ave Bridge in its field of view.
These webcams have been placed here to assist sailors to get an indication of the conditions on Lake Burley Griffin before coming down to sail.
This is the easier of the two, however, please be aware that the webcams here do often stop working and can take a week or two to be restored. Please feel free to log a note if you notice it is down. Also you may need to remain at GZ for up to 5mins as they only update that often, and obviously you can only collect these in the daylight hours.
In order to log this cache you will need to obtain a screen shot of the webcam with you in the picture holding your GPSr and upload it with your log.
As I mentioned, this is the easy one as there is a small piece of dry land in the foreground in which you can stay dry and collect this cache – no such luck with its companion, Lake Burley Griffin - Webcam #2 which you will need specialised equipment or the desire to get wet to claim.
You can find the webcam at www.canberrayachtclub.com.au/webcam/cam.htm and is the lower picture on the page. The upper picture is for geocaching.com.au/cache/ga3865

Thanks for the cache
A Tassie contingent and one Queenslander set off in a hired boat to plunder the spoils of Springbank Island and this was one we found. TFTWC.
Many thanks Jusojara for creating this virtual for our enjoyment.
My first and second ever Webcam cache finds. Great fun and I think I have webcam fever because I want to find more now!
Thanks for the fun this afternoon.
Cheers
MajuraHathi
thanks
Thanks Jusojara for the cache. One that's been on the list for a long time.
Thanks again jusojara.....happy to knock these two off after a couple of years.
Conditions were horrible, the strong wind made the picture blurry and the overcast made it a bit dull. You can barely tell its a person, let alone who, but rest assured both Buds & I were there!
*needs maintenance*
TFTWC and the Wally.
So close.
Mrs Sam n SmirkingRatChild were taken for a fly by GUIO.
It was a great day for a sail so they cruised up the lake at an altitude of 0 feet.
As they were passing Nara Park I realised that they were going to make full frame in the web cam!
The chase cars chased and we ran for the control tower but couldn't coordinate the technology to make the find.
Too late I realised that we were going to be in shot.
Too late for web cam #1,
In shot for web cam 2 but no technology...
The other balloons will be in shot too
the shot - wrong balloon though. DNF!
Nice to grab this one cheers jusojara
Arrived at GZ and had a little time available before the next update so watched the school kids having fun on the lake in the cats.
Grabbed the required shot and back to work. I think the other cache will have to wait as I had no desire to have a swim this afternoon.
Thanks for the cache Jusojara
