Description

Thrombolites - Oldest Life On Earth

After checking out the odd, rock-like structures close up, take the scenic route and soak up the serenity of this special area. Lake Clifton's thrombolites are thought to have begun forming 1950 years ago and believe it or not, are considered relatively young. These, and similar structures are evidence of the oldest life on earth. People and our impacts are one of the biggest threats to these amazing structures, so please do the right thing and stick to the boardwalk and paths (you will not need to leave the path to find the cache).

Quite embarrassed to not find this today, affected by the heat. Looking back my earlier NM log that was when i was still fresh newbie learning ropes & was using a GPS bought on-line 2nd hand, later discovered was broken sending me wrong direction.

Unable to find. GPS was jumping EVERYWHERE! Hubby even tried wandering around in the scrub a bit. I was poking a stick in every bush along the right side of the track. I'm sure it's there... and I missed it by that much. Smile

Granddad took us for a drive and we walked up the path to where he said stop. I was not allowed to touch the grass.

Thanks for the cache.

Took the family for a drive today and came down to this cache.

It is not missing and was found in the same spot that I first found it back in 2012.

Cache is in good condition considering it has remained unfound for just under 4 years.

Made the journey here with hope of claiming "not been found in 1 calendar year or more" in Summer Scavenger; but alas, either it's too well hidden off track or (most likely) gone!

It has been a long time since this cache was found. Grabbed this little beauty while visiting the thrombolites nearby and finding a couple of other GC caches.
Thanks Lauren for an excellent hide. ClappingDancing

Travelled down to Herron for lunch and took the opportunity to look for some local caches. The GPSr had me on the incorrect side of the path, found after changing sides. The cover over the cache cut like a serrated knife.

Thanks Lauren.

Boy is that bush scratchy. Had to refer to the hint to find the cache as GZ was on the other side of the track.

Thanks for the cache.
