Description

A simple little multi-cache for a GZ I recently found...

The Rocky Glen Grommets are one of the Yorke Peninsula's most prolific cache hiders. Over 90 of the peninsula's caches where placed by them. As such most of the good cache spots are taken... But last week when I a spotted this little spot, I just had to put a cache there...

GZ is accessible by 2WD most of the time but after rain a 4WD is recommended.

Take a short drive to find the cache:
Start at the listed coords and drive NORTH-EAST
Turn LEFT towards Roolama (if anyone knows what Roolama means or comes from feel free to share it with us...)
At the end of Roolama turn LEFT
Turn RIGHT at Davies Rd
Turn LEFT when you see the Rocky Glen Grommets Family Name (Hint for those who don't know it: It's not Redding)
When it comes to Sparrows or Cooks, Sparrows seem to know the way to GZ
After crossing the Boundary, Keep you eyes open for something related to this cache
Turn RIGHT at this point remembering to mark this point in your GPS
Once you are exactly 1.09km away look for the cache on the RIGHT side of the road (use the hint)

And of course there is a Rocky Glen Grommets pathtag for the FTF...
Good Luck!

This was one GA cache we were hoping to find as we have found quite a few caches hidden by Rocky Glen Grommets. A close look at the map suggested where GZ might be and the instructions confirmed what we thought.
We had a great time touring the area to get to GZ but unfortunately didn’t find the cache Sad

We loved the idea and thought behind it anyway. Many thanks Laighside Legends. Very Happy

Over on the YP for a couple of days so grabbed a few caches along the way including this one. Like the Treckers I mis interpreted and ended up driving around for a while but eventually got on the correct route and had a short search at GZ
Container was bits so put what was reusable into a plastic screw top jar with some new sheets of paper for a log sheet.
Also left the remains of the bottom as a cover for a little extra uv protection Mr. Green
Cheers & TFTC

Caching in the area we tackled this multi and like others before us misinterperated one of the directions and had to back track to follow a road we had bypassed.

Once at GZ we searched and uncovered the cache. A bit worse for wear so added a zip lock bag for the log. Cache is brittle and broken but had nothing to replace it with.

Thanks Laighside Legends

This cache was one of a few that we'd specifically done a 480km round trip to collect today.

I will admit, I had rounded down the general vicinity at home before setting off, but that didn't make finding the cache any easier.
It was quite warm, and we were sure we'd see at least one snake here. Luckily no snakes were encountered, but I was ready to call a DNF on this one.

Mrs J was searching further east, and spotted the cache, or at least the remains of the cache. Sistema containers don't fare too well under UV light, and the container has become so brittle it has disintegrated. The zip lock bag has gone the same way, and the log book has been very wet at some stage, but is now dry and a bit crumbly.

In regards to RGG, we met Mum Grom at a rare attendance of a geocaching event, and blame her for getting us started on collecting pathtags. We always enjoyed RGG hides, and we're one of four teams to have found all 94 cache hides. We were very saddened to hear of Jackie's passing at such an young age, and our thoughts were with her family.

Thanks Laighside Legends.

Today, as we headed to Point Turton, we stopped to have another go at this one. In August last year we started out to look for this cache but made a few errors when interpreting the instructions - we put it down to lack of local knowledge. After a discussion with the cache owner we corrected our mistakes and back we came. After a short search we located the well hidden cache which was in very good condition. We replaced the ziplock bag as the original had become brittle.
We were surprised that this cache had not been found since October 2012.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of your old stamping grounds Laighside Legends and hope other cachers will be tempted to do the same as it is a pity this well stocked little tribute cache has remained unfound for so long.
Thanks for the cache Laighside Legends this is certainly a highlight of our trip to SA.

Drove past today and found the cache a little exposed but all in good shape.

Very nice to get silver after 32 weeks since first found! My calculated coordinates overshot GZ by about 40 metres, but not surprising as the caclulations were completed a few months ago in the comfort of an armchair in front of a nice toasty fire on a cold winter's night. Thanks for the adventure Laighside Legends!

Was surprised to be able to christen the log. Was confused on one of the directions but some backtracking and rethinking helped.
