Description

screw top container placed in roadside park at Wonglepong.

There is already a GC geocache near here to commemorate an early school. It is in a park named for the Henry Franklin Family. Well cared for park with various facilities. Good for a stop along the road if you're heading to out to Warwick or places along the way.

I thought it could do with a GCA cache for those of you who like to find both types and don't just limit yourselves to the GC site.

The cache is placed behind some logs that act as a boundary between the mown area and the rougher bush. You can drive up close to the GZ. Perhaps you could sit on a log to look natural? Just tuck the cache down behind the log before you leave.

We were driving past today and knew we had to stop for this one. The last few times we have been in the area, it has been raining heavily - so we always say 'next time' as we whiz by. Not today. Pulled up at GZ and made a quick find. The contents are very damp. Upon writing on the logbook, it turned into paste. No obvious signs on where the leak is - no excess water - just a complete wetness to everything inside the container. Unfortunately we didn't have a spare container and log to swap it out with, so it might need a little bit of maintenance soon. Beautiful park though, it really is a nice area for a cache!

Thanks Bristracker!

followed gps coordinates to 0 met looked down it was 5oomm from where I was standing. This is remarkable as gps was showing only 7 meter accuracy.
cache was wet inside, managed to dry it out & signed book.

Quick find on our way up to Binna Burra. Log book was too wet to sign - can send photo of container if needed. TFTC - great to stop here after passing this spot lots of times many years ago Smile

We were heading to a party with friends at Canungra and stopped off to find this cache.

I'm sure that I have searched for one near here before.

Today it was a quick find. The log was a bit damp so I have returned the container with the lid at the bottom to see if that will help to keep it dry.

#GA3004 - 13:55; Today it was time for the geotribe and I to head for the hills and so it was we made our way up and along the winding road and through multiple lots of roadwork to Tamborine Mountain. After a stop near the top, we were now headed south towards Canungra when the chance to collect this cache presented itself. It didn't turn out to be an easy find, even after checking the hint. The long grass has overgrown GZ, but persistence paid off and I managed to make the find. The logs is quite damp, but managed to add my name to it. TFTC bristracker Very HappyClan Cerberus

We chose this cache today for the Christmas in July challenge. Took us awhile to locate the cache. Almost gave up searching, when MrGT54 called out that he had found the cache. The cache is dry and in good condition. TFTC

wow, that was harder to find than it was supposed to be, I think, mainly because the spot looks great for people to dump rubbish, but I still found it. The log book and interim log book are both unusable.

Signed interim log. All good. TFTC

It took a few minutes of searching at GZ, in the very wet grass, for the cache to be located. Unfortunateky the logbook was saturated and unsignable. We left a temporary replacement logbook in its own plastic bag as interim maintenance. TFTC

Had passed this one a couple of times and forgotten there was a GCA cache here. But this time, I remembered, so popped in to have a look.

Found the cache upside down, and it had a bit of water in it and so the log book is a bit wet. Tipped out water etc.

Put the container back upright, so hopefully might not have this issue again?

Thanks BT.

We got up early today to head for this cache as this was not found yet, so we probably would become the FTF. We found the cache in good condition, little bit damp but we know now how to deal with that Smile and we took the logbook. What? Somebody did sign it already at the 29th of April Sad . So 2nd to find but 1st to log Smile . TFTC bristracker! Glad you told us about Geocaching Australia otherwise we probably would not have headed in this direction, what a beautiful drive!
