Description

Long walk mostly on tracks turn at small dam then in the open bush

Long walk could be 1 hour. Park at S41 04 772 E145 58 729 at Cuprona footy feild. Caches best to find week days as scouts use area some weekends. But not that ofen. If all gates open the scouts are driving around. Walk starts behind western goal posts next to river. Sign says keep out but many local use the roads for walking. Fisherman also use tracks. Good footware and covered clothing is advisable as manferns and rushes will be passed.Take a drink. Look for this one before thr Mule Track cache best idea. Mostly good walking except last 50 metres is hilly but not as steep as other cache. Tracks can be used to 50 meters then raw bush, Slippery dry leaves with many wildlife jumping and sliding across track. Hint of another cache in each container. Use track to other cache listed as A mule track for copper as hill between two very steep and thick scrub. Do not use Cuprona Road as private property is encounted unless you ask at farm houses. Very steep from farmland to river.Thick bush on top of ridges.

Having got the other two caches, this was soon to hand too!
Had no trouble working my way through the light scrub.
Signed the log at 1358hrs.

The way out was even easier and a track soon found; led me out easily.

How did you find this wheel? I have asked various scout leaders from a couple of districts if they knew of the wheel and most don't so a big thank you for placing a cache here. I followed the tracks here and reminisced about some great trips and activities here while passing through the facility. Feeling confident about my navigation skills I headed directly along the compass bearing to the next cache. Thanks TassieExplorer for these adventure caches, I love them.

Found on our find the caches published since our last visit to the coast and this was one of them. We headed from A mule track for copper uphill bush bashing all the way. Amazing how you found this wheel in the middle of nowhere. Felt like explorers TFT

The hardest task was finding the track which would take us closest to the GZ. Our first attempt led as towards the cache but at about the 250m mark, the track turned away and further uphill. We eventually abandoned this approach, backtracked and took another track. This got us to within about 100m and we then dedcided to walk through the very light scrub to GZ. It was an easy walk. Once there a quick find was made both of the old steam wheel and the ccahe. TFTC Tassy Explorer

Like Sirius, we figured it would take more time to try and find the actual track than just go the direct route up the hill from the previous cache. Yes, it was steep. Very. But it was also very open and clear of undergrowth, and there was quite a fine view of the river below. So after slogging up the hill, we were back to forging our own way through the scrub again. Could see no sign of any walking tracks; the GPS was all that led us onwards. It took a while, not sure how long as we weren't paying attention to time, and finally came out at a clearing with an interesting relic in it. Someone did a lot of exploring to find that!!

The cache was nice and big with lots of swaps. We took note of the extra coords from this and the other cache, then headed off for the secret bonus cache.

Alas, we could not find the 'extra' cache. Sad At GZ we searched for a long time through the fallen trees and bracken, we found nothing but lots of jackjumpers, which bite through your socks... I wrote the coords down rather than taking the slips of paper, so it's possible I made a mistake, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. No hints or anything to go on, so eventually we got too tired and thirsty and gave up. A slightly disappointing end to what was otherwise a nice series of caches in the bush (and you will get your day's exercise getting them!!) Thanks for the caches Tassyexplorer.

Wasn't sure I'd find the right track in...so headed uphill from the mule track. Going was pretty easy...quite open. Spotted the wheel with the cache not too far away which was full of swaps. Another enjoyable bush walk and just what I needed to get me up and about again. Many thanks again Tassyexplorer...FTF as well...Cheers.
