Description
An easy cache in memory of a great Australian!
Mary MacKillop was born in Melbourne in 1842. When she was in Penola she met Julian Tenison Woods and together they opened the first St Joseph's School in 1866.
Mary MacKillop founded the Sisters of St Joseph, who have established schools all over Australia and New Zealand as well as other institutions to help the poor.
The location of the cache is on the site of Mary MacKillop Place, Mount St North Sydney where Mary MacKillop lived and died. She is buried in the Chapel and along with the museum on site, it is a place of pilgrimage for thouands of people - people of faith and people of no faith.
Take time to read about the history of this wonderful woman on her website: www.marymackillop.org.au
Mary MacKilop's famous saying was "Never see a need without doing something about it"
Well..... there was a need, a geochache in her honour, and something has been done about it!
This is the fourth of many caches placed in significant locations of her story.
Mary died on August 8th, 1909.
She was declared Australia’s first Saint in 2012.

However, unless I need a trip to the optometrist, I think the cache has gone missing. I knew what I was looking for, and had a very good look and failed to see it.
Saw the cache straight away but there were so many muggles today that it took a while before i could reach and sign and quickly return the prize.
Thanks for the cache.
Bit windy today! Spotted the creative cache container easily enough, it was more the timing between muggles that made it tricky. Nice area and dedication to a great Australian. Cheers!
