Description

Griffin Road. Don't complain about the trees being logged.

If driving through this area near the forestry campsite  many views of South Esk River. Could be log trucks or tourists with motor homes or towing caravans in area. Also a spot which many motor bikers use, was an old farmhouse near but long gone. Not far from Mathinna township.

Found this one as we were leaving today. Quick stroll up the much more manageable hill provided a prompt find. Cache was right where it should be, and great to see a nice sized one - this is definitely a "regular" not a "small".

View from here was excellent - thanks for having us stop here. Easy enough to park even with the trailer on.

We were very apprehensive about driving from the campgrounds to this location as a 100m (approximately) section of the road was extremely rocky. It appeared that the river had flooded at some stage and the surface of the road had been washed away. However we took it very slowly and picked our way over and between the rocks to get to the quite good road surface on the other side of the washout. There was a very convenient parking spot quite close to GZ. When we got out of the car we realised the significance of the name of the cache. There were superb views of the South Esk River from the edge of the road and even better views higher up on the other side near GZ. As we drove along the road we had not appreciated the steady climb which left the road well above the height of the river. The river down below flowing through a narrow section was a great view. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. TFTC Tassyexplorer.

Easy find with top views. Had been fire fighting all around here several yrs ago...quite hard terrain but many tracks. Did a lot of mapping of the surrounding plantations too....almost 40 yrs ago....how time flies. Many thanks Tassyexplorer for the return visit which I was thoroughly enjoying...cheers.
