Description

Another GCA cache in the I've Cached Everywhere Man series - this time in Milperra

I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack.

Milperra is an Aboriginal word for a gathering of people. The land at Milperra was originally owned by George Johnson Jr. After World War I, returning soldiers established poultry farms and vegetable gardens in the area. The area commonly known as Thorns Bush, became officially known as Bankstown Soldier Settlement in 1917. Many streets in the area are named after World War 1 battles and officers.

The Milperra College of Advanced Education was established in 1974, which became the Bankstown campus of the University of Western Sydney in 1989.

steptoe I found your cache ICEM - Milperra 01/06/19, 09:55 am. This is my find # 111 and find # 1 today. Parked in the side street and walked to GZ. After a short search, soon had CIH. Thanks for the cache! TNSLLN

Find 3 of 3 (2 GC and 1 GCA) while out caching with geo boy this morning.

Last find for the morning after a DNF at a difficult GC multi and a couple of quick smilies at GC traditionals. After finding the twin Mary Mackillop cache on the other side of the bridge it was a quick walk / scooter over to this one. We needed two searches for this one as the first search was interrupted by a muggle pulling weeds on the other side of the fence. On the second attempt it was a quick find from the right angle. Signed the log and returned as found. Plenty of room on the dry log so all in good order here. I think this is my first I've Cached Everywhere Man find! Looks like i'll get some unloved days for this one too!! First find in nearly two years!

Thanks for the cache steptoe.

Today's score: 17 found, one DNF, 14 GC, three GCA. A well spend day in the Illawong and Revesby area.

I've cached everywhere, even in this suburb which name I have forgotten.

In an effort to get some GCA finds under my belt, I finally found my first traditional one and the first in this series, almost 3 years to the day since the FTF of this cache. Knew where I had to look but still made things more difficult than I needed to for such an easy find.

After a job around the corner this afternoon which luckily turned out to be only a dead power supply so nice and easy to fix, I had time to grab a couple of local caches before heading to the next fix further west.

Parked over the road and searched the area for a fairly quick find. Of course in the hardest spot to poke my head in without losing my glasses! Thanks steptoe.

#GA426 - 17:50; I suggested to Sol de lune some time back that we should do a day run to Sydney to pick up some of the GCA trigs and caches on offer. A couple of weeks ago we identified an opportunity timing wise and so it was that we made our way north today, collecting a total of 32 trigs for the day. We were running out of options to grab a GCA traditional on our run today, so we were pretty pleased to locate this one. Log signed, cache replaced and we were on our way again. In town with LuckyL10n on a GCA find day and grabbed this one as the day was drawing to an end. No problems and the cache was soon in hand.

Good to grab an older ICEM series cache.

Thanks Steptoe....

Nicely hidden, had to park in the side street, otherwise this is a walk by, not able to drive by, no parking. My old college is up the road. I did attend this uni when it was called Milperra College, then changed it's name to Macarthur Institute of Higher Education, when I was in my 2nd year. I had well and truly graduated by the time it became UWS.

Big GrinBig GrinFTFBig GrinBig Grin – This is also my first find in the ICEM series, so why not start with a FTF. I was at GZ just in time before the local TAFE finished as it could be pretty busy along here. Thanks Steptoe for this cache Big Grin.
