Description

Lets hope it is not flooding

It will flood onto the overhead train line here. Just for a short time only. Lovely town to have a look about. Many guys and girls fish here as it is near where the St Pauls River flows into the South Esk. Check out the local musem next to the toilet block. Buy something at the local shop/garage as these country towns are gems and we do not want them to disappear

This geocache appears to be MIA so to stop it clogging the search lists we'll archive it. If the owner can confirm it is in place the listing can be resurrected by placing an "unarchived" log against it.

Hello Tassyexplorer thanks or the cache any way.

I looked at the description to this cache and spent way too long trying to find an easy way to access the cache as the Terrain level of 1 suggested I should be following a path, after driving around the area a couple of times I drove along a rough track and waded through the long wet grass and had a bit of a look before giving it up as a lost cause.
With the amount of debris around the area I agree with DDTs and say it has gone in the last flood.

not found at 10:38
Any way TFTC

Well, all we can say is that the cache well might be there, but there is so much debris around (probably from the last flood) that we had no idea where to start looking for a small cache - so we gave up after a reasonable time searching. It would have been helpful to know what kind of cache container we were searching for. Great spot for a cache though!

Found after a short drive and search. The container is somewhat squashed.....hit by a falling branch I'd say and the lid will not longer stay on. Log will get wet eventually so might need to be checked. Hope the cache can continue on...

Thanks for showing me what years of neglect and no (govt) support can do to a country footy field....

Wasn't until I did an update of GeoSphere at GZ, did I pick up a hint of where I might find it. Mind you, the next flood will mean a visit by the CO for a wet cache!
TNLN, thanks for the cache

Found on a warm sunny day after visiting the nearby ducks. Tried to take the bush track but back tracked to walk from the bridge. TNLN TFTC.

Would imagine there would have been a lot of foot and leg injuries on this flat but bumby surface. A quick find after walking a long way round and through a barrage of spider webs. Thanks.

Our intention today was to look for a number of caches starting at Avoca, going down through Royal George to Cranbrook, back up the East Coast to Lagoons Beach, up the Elephant Pass and through St Marys back to Avoca.

This was the second cache in our loop. Walking to GZ it was obvious that this is a flood prone area as the grass had all been knocked over in one direction and it was very soggy underneath. It must have been interesting in the early days of this area being a footy ground as many matches would either have been played in atrocious conditions or transferred as the ground would have been under water many times in the year. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. the cache and its contents were in good condition. Thanks for bringing us here Tassyexplorer and TFTC.

An easy find after following the cachers highway (much more defined than a mere cachers trail!). This would have been a very soggy footy ground in mid winter in it's day. TFTC

Hi Tassyexplorer
After a long day sitting around the house at Huonville yesterday waiting for the cache mobile to be re-shod and a poor nights sleep; I felt the need for caches today.
Left home at about 0730hrs and didn't really know where I was headed. Eventually drove from Huonville, as far north as Launceston Airport and as far East as Avoca.

This cache was my seventeenth find for the day. walked across the road from "BEN,F" through the grass to get to this cache. Arrived at ground zero, to find what appeared to be a lot of flood debris; and thought that a recent flood may have washed the cache away. A short search proved otherwise. The cache was found, the log signed and the container returned to its hide at 1603hrs.
From here it was onto "Curse the Hider - Oatlands."

Arrived back at Huonville at 2015hrs having found eigthteen caches and hiding two moveables.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

We stopped off here in the hire car and drove off-road towards the cache for a short distance along a bumpy little track through the long grass. (not encouraged as the insurance is void off-road!) But strike-a-light did a good job and we didn't get bogged or do any damage and had no trouble spotting the cache either. I wouldn't like to be around when the river floods!! TFTC

Quick and easy find on the way past this morning. Probably easier than finding a footy, if you kicked one into this field!

A work trip to St Helens with some time on the side to find a few caches - perfect.

A walk in the long grass to the gz, where I thought - bugger this is going to be a long search. Luckly I found the cache at the first location I searched.

I cant believe this was a footy ground, there seems to be to many rises and falls in the ground to be suitable.

One of 10 caches we found today on our loop around the East Coast, finding caches published since our last visit. We made a quick find TFTC.

An easy find but no doubt this one will get a lot harder to find after heavy rain as its location is below flood line for the river. TNLN thanks

Found it at 1.10pm. *FTF*. TNLN. Thanks
