Description

The cache is not at these coordinates. It is located in the Port Sorell area

This game is based on a game called Bagels Pico Fermi

I'm thinking of a 2x 3 digit numbers (ie 41 10.xxx and 146 32.yyy)

Take a guess. I'll respond:

  • Wrong - the guess has no right characters
  • Close - a character is right but it's not in the right place
  • Correct - a character is right and it's in the right place

So if you say 835 and I have 873, I would respond:
835 - Correct, Close, Wrong

Please note:

Make it clear with your two guesses, which is which. I'll assume that your first number (xxx) is S and (yyy) is E
There are no repeated digits. ie 337 is not a valid guess
Please send your guesses via Forum Messages (feel free to use my email or sms, if you have it)

The cache is BYO pen or pencil.
We will respond to guesses in order received , ASAP, but please be understanding if there is some delay.

Enjoy !

Didn't quite finish guessing correct co-ordinates but had enough for a search and quickly came up with a find. Thanks for your responses to our multiple guesses on this one and an interesting cache.

Is this puzzle still worth while solving?

It took a few efforts to get the final coords, so Spreyton22 must be thanked for having lots of patience ! Clapping
Thanks for the very different puzzle and cache, Spreyton22 ! Very Happy

Enjoyed the puzzle which was done many months ago now...cache easily to hand...all ok. Another nice stroll rounding up all these caches....TFTC...Spreyton22..Cheers.

Found this fellow on an enjoyable walk through the park. Looks like the locals like bringing their cars in here for a bit of late night hooning. Eldest geokid found this little fellow with his eagle eyes. Thanks for organising the puzzle and cache Spreyton22. We had an enjoyable day in the region picking up a few of your puzzle caches.

Hi

Finally was in the position to find this cache and found the cache at my second visit to the stump in question

Thanks for the cache

Just did a quick check up of the cache and all is well.

Found today on our walk around the Don area. After having lunch near the pool. We headed around the walking track towards Coles Beach. TFTC

The story of how I solved this is in my earlier note.
As for the finding, a nice stroll took me to a place that was nice but surprising - it seems a strange place to have such a feature!
I quickly identified the right area to search, but it took three passes before I noticed something out of place and had the cache to sign.
Thanks.

Enjoyed the interaction with this puzzle. Thanks Spreyton22 for all the effort you have put into the puzzles and cache hides. This is our 500th GCA find. Found with Tassie Trekkers on a beautiful spring day.

Enjoyed solving this puzzle, a lot of fun. Appreciated the quick response to guesses. This was one of 9 puzzle caches we found today thanks Spreyton22

This was another puzzle published whilst we were away. It was good to have some stimulation when we got back. Took 8 tries before the tick of approval was received (thanks for the prompt responses, much better than some Queensland ones where after four weeks we are still waiting for three replies for virtuals!). The old Mastermind skills had to be dusted off for this enjoyable puzzle. Once near GZ it took a few minutes of searching before the cache was located in a good hide. TFTC and the puzzle Spreyton22.

Hi Spreyton22
Loved the jaunt to ground zero only to find the very soft ground churned up by some idiot and its vehicle.
A very thorough and methodic search soon had the cache container to hand and log signed at 1336hrs. That's three now Dippy!
Replaced the cache and left ground zero behind - or so I thought!
Went off and found two other caches and upon returning to the car, went to phone Anne but my phone was missing!
Not in the car - where the hell is it?
God! It could be anywhere in the bush. Walked back down to ground zero near the cache but no phone. Stepped out of the garden and luckily, I almost trod on the phone walking back to the car. Also lucky that I did not step on it. All's well that ends well!
Thanks for the puzzle, the two walks to ground zero and the fun of the find.
Cheers OldSaint.

Razz Ahhhhh Spreyton22...

I've been watching your puzzle caches popping up lately and never understanding them. This one comes along and I think, "hey, I think I can have a shot at this one". 7 or so guesses and I get there in the end.

Next day:
Razz Time before heading back to Hobart - check.
Razz Weather - glorious. Check.
Razz GPS - working fine today. Must have been your tip about threatening Andy Android with being replaced by an iPhone *heavenforbid*

These boots were not made for this kind of geocache walking, but nevermind. What's a bit of slush?

Yay, I'm at the place my GPS points to correctly (as you know, not something I can take for granted!) AND meets the clue criteria. Where is it? Can't find it. Read some logs - has it been found recently? Ahhh, Dippy giving shoe advice. Too late. Dippy not able to find it straight away. Arrrgghhh, Dippy realises with horror that it's a micro! Horror transfers to me! I look, and circle, and poke and prod, and study nooks and crannies, but no joy. Crying or Very sad

And all the meanwhile, quite a few muggles and their dogs are walking by this area constantly. Good job I brought my decoy as to why I would be lurking in bushes.

And with that said, while I can't log a smiley face, I present to you, some examples of my lots and lots of photos of moss, wood, seeds and bark. Enjoy!!

A bunch of you might have solved it...but how many of you have found it? Two!!! That's all - 2TF! I somehow got kinda sucked into this one...and I suppose then obsession took over. Took seven guesses with a bum steer at the start just to handicap me further and I definitely don't need that! The more puzzles I do, the more confirmation I get that 2 star difficulty (or less) suits me fine. Once I start them, I actually quite enjoy them! This was quite fun, even the online version too. Thanks for the encouragement Spreyton22!
Today I found the cache...just! Thought it must have disappeared, because despite hint matching and all, I just couldn't see it. Then (once again peering at close range) found the little blighter - bleeding micros!
The grassy area all around was so wet - waterproof shoes required at the moment. Thought the garden beds nearby were very nice.
A beaut cache - thanks Spreyton22.

Well finally got the right 6 digits to fall into place.
Had a day of fun trying to get there, but just a dumb PE teacher, I guess.
Thanks to Spreyton22 for his patience.
However, if Budge claims the quickest solve with least guesses, I can certainly claim the most attempts with thirteen, unlucky for some, lucky for me today; but all mine were legitimate; no triples in my attempt (TEHEHEHE)
Glad to know I'm in a similar ball park to 3DG, but I think he'd normally blow me away; no I don't think it, I know it!
Congrats on another FTF 3DG.
Great puzzle, thanks for the fun.
Cheers OldSaint.

12-Jun-12
Congrats Mr 3DG.
So, your log indicates 1 of 3 things: ("but I had to put my specs on to find it.")
1) You eyes are telling you to visit the optician.
2) My cache container is "sub-nano".
3) The hide is devilishly hard.
My best guess is 1)
Glad you enjoyed the cache !

12-Jun-12
Well, that was a bit of fun!
Thanks to Spreyton22 for his prompt replies to my oh too many guesses.
Cache was in an area I am well familiar with, but I had to put my specs on to find it.
Congrats on yet another different puzzle....you guys are excelling!

12-Jun-12
Solved the puzzle on my 4th guess, if you ignore my first guess of 555 which was against the rules. Come one Reborn you must be slipping not to get it quicker than me

I recommend the puzzle

I will be in Devonport next weekend. If I have time to cache is another question

12-Jun-12
Got it in either five guesses or six - depending whether you count the sixth "guess" which was just asking for confirmation of what I'd already worked out.
One moment of stupidity, before I realised that I actually knew a lot more than I thought, rather than less!
Thanks for the prompt responses - I must get that trip organised.
