After a fair bit of searching the police helicopter hovered overhead to lend some assistance.
It worked a treat, cache in hand soon after.
Adding some love and removing the Chuppa Chup.
All in good order. Some interesting archaeology here, that's for sure.
Thanks for the cache Irontoad.
A fun hunt indeed!

We were out riding the trails, getting our bearings and finding some caches. This wasn't really on the route we were taking but it didn't take long to make an extended detour. Searched all around hoping to not have to do excavation of some largish rocks but so far there was no sign of the cache. It wasn't till we looked further up that we easily found it . That was a relief because there's no telling what else lives in those rock cavities. Wink TFTC Irontoad.

Back in Melbourne for a few days and with a few hours spare I was off to grab a few caches and cross off a dZ or two....

Parked at the end of the nearby street and took the short walk to GZ where the cache was spotted after a short search. Sat on the rocks to sign the log and while watching a few walkers on the track.

Thanks Irontoad.....neat spot to sit for while.

After attending Wozzle68's event at the camp ground on Mount Beckworth we headed into Melbourne to look for some GCA caches in Dragon Zones where we had no finds. This was the first.

We had had this cache on our books for some years but have not visited this part of Melbourne before. Having found a parking space in a dead end street not far away we headed down the steps to the walking track along the river. After a short walk we found ourselves below the hide and made the short scramble up to GZ. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find for a very well hidden cache. Container and contents were in very good condition.

After returning the cache to its hide and replacing the cover we made our way up hill and walked across the parkland to the car.

Thanks for the cache Irontoad we enjoyed our visit to this area and hope that others will visit this cache. We were surprised that it has had so few visits since it was first placed.

#GA2067 - 14:25; In Melbourne with the geohoney for a few days to visit the geoteen, and today the girls had a day planned around appointments, retail and the art gallery, so I was off a caching again! I had collected eleven new caches along the Western Ring Path which have appeared since my last visit in July. That mission completed, it was off to collect caches in a few more dragonZones I had yet to visit. Managed to eventually find a park in an area not too far from GZ after the GPS in the geomobile initially had me several hundred metres further away. Made my way along the path to GZ, where some council workers were clearing growth along the creek banks. After being a few metres out and putting my hands into dark holes I probably should not have, the GPSr settled and led me further up the bank to GZ where the cache was found. All was in good order. I went to this cache expecting it to be missing, as the online logs said nearly 2 years since last find, but it was there and it had a recent log in there, some muggles have stumbled upon it I guess. It didn't take a long search as geojas suggested, but the terrain was a bit tricky , thanks for the cache Smile

With a day off and a few hours to spare I headed out to grab a new GCA cache not too far from here and stop in to earn done now dragonzone points. The GPS was playing up and the phone took me to the wrong spot at first so a couple of searches before I came up with the cache. I'm glad there weren't any muggles around today.
Thanks irontoad for the cache.

After a weekend of home 'stuff', I decided to get out for a quick find or two if the light would hold. This one has been on the radar for such a long time that I figured I'd give it a go. After a bit of poking around GZ, not to mention a slip on the rocks Embarassed (earning me the full 3½ stars I guess Shocked), I finally had the stash in hand at 16:50 to mark our 400th GCA find Dancing.

Interestingly, there are a couple of unfamiliar logs in the logbook - muggles perhaps? Think

Came upon this by accident, on my way to another place when it appeared on the scope... A long set of stairs led down to the path, whereupon a short climb up more rudimentary "stairs" took me to the box. Traversing the slope took me to yet another set of worn wooden stairs and I used these to climb to the parkland above. Read several of the series many years ago, well done with the connection. In all, a worthy adventure. Thanks.

Found by caughtatwork today. This is a nice area for a stroll. A few areas hit by the latest floods and the walkway covered in mud in some parts, but a nice quick walk from the car.
Approaching GZ wasn't too hard until I realised I needed to be a bit more wary of the terrain rating so headed to where it seemed about right. A quick poke around and I had the cache in almost no time at all.
A very nice sized cache. I was kind of expecting a micro so I was very pleased to see that the cache was one "just like the olden days".
Thanks to Irontoad for this cache here today. It's a pity that I'm only the third finder after a month in the wild. Be patient, they will come.

"I will not fear. Fear is the mind-killer..."

Still one of my all-time favourite books, so how could I resist?

A nice easy walk-in from near home, down stairs I never knew were there, and a few minutes' scramble before I came up trumps.

I think the local kids might have found it, but they were good enough to add their names to the log with the pencil, and return the container. Needing nothing, and not carrying much in the way of swaps, I left the contents as I found them.

Thanks, Irontoad.

9/7/2012 22:18 {*FTF *} As this hadn't been logged for the last few days I thought I would traipse over to this area and see if it was really unfound. As always the GPS took me to the closest road that was of course on the wrong side or the Merri, so I manually navigated around to the end of the Keady St. where an obliging path and stairs lead to the track I needed. After the GPS settled down I was making toward GZ. Its an interesting location that looks as if it may have been a quarry at one time. The terrain certainly deserves the 3.5* rating as its hard to get a good footing amongst those loose rocks. The GPS sent me up toward a suspicious formation and a minute or two of poking about had the cache in hand with an empty log!! Despite the paint job it was easily found, even in the dark (I had my caching eye-in!). TFTC Irontoad TNLN SL
