Description
This cache brings you to the site of Hanson's Farm in Werribee Gorge
The house was built of stone collected on the property. This served the purpose of also clearing the land of rocks for farming. The only remnant of the home is the chimney and the wall foundations.
Nearby is the site of the horse works. A circular track for the horse and nearby a few pieces of the chaffcutter that was driven.
A little further down the slope is a stone wall, evidence of further gathering of stones off the land and the building of a shelter wall for the farmyard.
An oak tree still remains nearby, also several plum trees, a pear, an old mulberry tree and a plane tree. Potatoes were grown up the hill on the way to picnic point. This was in basalt soil and no doubt was very successful. To the east of this the slope was cleared of stone but was not successful with potatoes as this was glacial soil of low fertility.
Please note no rocks need to be moved to find this cache.

GabGab, Lady caughtatwork and I decided to go gnoming after we ran late at Ballarat yesterday and we had to bypass Ballan on the way home. Today we decided to head back to Ballan to clean up the local movable caches and collect a couple of new ones.
A not too tough walk up the track from the carpark and we were soon at GZ. We despaired at finding the cache with all of the stones and the growth at GHZ but we kept on looking and looking. We came across the cache about 2-3m towards the end of the rock wall than we were looking and it was in a position where NO rocks had to be moved. That's a very nice placement.
The cache has been visited half a dozen times since it was placed by non-geocaching finders who have left their mark in the log book and replaced the cache nicely.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks g_ordo for this cache here. It's been here a long time and for some reason it's taken me over 3 years to get out here and find it. It's a glorious location and it's a pity it doesn't get more finds. This area should be on everyone's find it list.

After signing the log, I replaced it where I'd found it but gave it a bit more cover.
Strangely, this one was found by "Zac" on 9 June this year even though there's no on-line log for it. A muggle perhaps?
TNLNSL. Thanks g_ordo.
Thanks for the cache Gordon.
The rest of the family were meeting friends for yum cha, but I needed a decent physical challenge for the weekend. One option was to attack another chunk of the Dandenong Meanders; a call from a friend needing help getting her latest furniture purchase to her home in the western suburbs highlighted another possibility: Werribee Gorge.
Headed up the hill onto the Centenary Track, this was the second area on the list. By the time I'd completed my meandering journey among the ruins, they'd yielded no less than three happy finds. This was the second of these... and it had amphibious company.
