Description
Should be an easy find near one of WanderingAus' favourite places.
I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack, as well as other towns mentioned in verses made up by geocachers.
Darwin is the seventeenth place mentioned in the song, at Line five in Verse one.
Cached in:
Tullamore, Seymour, Lismore, Mooloolaba,
Nambour, Maroochydore, Kilmore, Murwillumbah,
Birdsville, Emmaville, Wallaville, Cunnamulla,
Condamine, Strathpine, Proserpine, Ulladulla,
Darwin, Gin Gin, Deniliquin, Muckadilla,
Wallumbilla, Boggabilla, Kumbarilla,
I'm a killer.
Having visited Darwin four times since I discovered geocaching I own a few Darwin caches and have found quite a lot. Having "found a cache" there I could then place an ICEM cache there too. (I won't place an ICEM cache in any place where I haven't found a cache of some sort first - my rule for me only).
Having decided to place an ICEM cache in Darwin the next decision was where to place it. I have plenty of favourite spots in and around Darwin, so I put all the names in a list and narrowed it down to the best six, put those six in a hat, and pulled them all out.
East Point Reserve is a special place for the people of Darwin and is one of the most popular recreation areas for both locals and visitors.
Not only is the reserve readily accessible from both the city and suburbs, but its range of attractions is considerable and it is by far the largest park area in or near the city.
East Point Reserve covers almost 200 hectares, of which 30 hectares includes natural forest land. The Reserve offers safe year-round saltwater swimming at Lake Alexander, a range of barbecue and picnic facilities in a landscaped environment, a military history that goes back to 1932 and a range of community and tourist facilities including the Darwin Military Museum and it's recently opened Defence of Darwin Experience which provides visitors with an immersive, interactive, multimedia experience: 'the story of Darwin's role in World War II'.
A large number of buildings and other structures from World War II are scattered around East Point, making it a very enjoyable soujourn.
GCGKNY Great Southern Land: (7) Cyclone Watch by The 2 Dogs has attracted geocachers to East Point for 8 years, and over that period has been joined by at least another 15 caches. As at 5 August 2012 East Point Reserve offered 12 Traditional geocaches and one very excellent night hunt Multicache, GC3GCN0 Fairy Trail by Night by TiedyeSmileys, not counting this one.
This cache is a drab camo'd 110mm x 80mm x 80mm plastic cliplock container with a log, 2 pencils, a sharpener, an Air Force armband, 2 crocodiles, a horse, a cow, a goat and a dinosaur. Please be sure to seal the ziplock bag, put the lid on tightly and conceal it as found, and watch out for muggles. If the lid seems to be hard to clip, try turning it around 180°, that should do the trick.
I've listed the terrain as 1.5 (not wheelchair accessable), but the adventurous 'wheelie' will probably prove me wrong. I'd appreciate a 'heads up' if that is ever the case.
Swaggies are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online. Grounspeak Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) can NOT be logged into this cache, or any other GCA cache. Please don't drop any Grounspeak Trackables in this cache, and if you find any in this cache please remove them and log a "Grab it from somewhere else" log for the trackable.

We bashed our way in, the scrub was pretty light, but peppered with very spiky little bushes.
At GZ the cache was found after clearing away a lot of leaf litter, it was very well covered! In great condition too.
GZ is just off a walking/cycling path that meanders through a monsoon thicket. It was free of mozzies on this delightful Dry Season morning, but I'd make sureI had repellant if there was any rain about.
Many TFTC WanderingAus. I'm loving your work. The cache is in top nick.
Noticed this cache so made the required detour and subsequent find.
Cache was still soggy, but now the ants had moved in to make a 'home'. Perfect for laying eggs apparently.
they now have been moved on with a headache! Bushmans is great stuff.
Cache replaced upright and with new logsheet and snaplock bag. Added a pencil too (outside the bag). Good as first placed.

Thanks WanderingAus....nice to grab another GCA cache.
Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! Smile. Go Clan Cerberus !
Another Trad for the trip while in the north. We stopped here to look around and grab some caches. Lots of piccies taken. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !
Another great location visited during our journey.
TFTC !!
Contents were wet and log book sodden - unable to write on it so left our mark on a partial receipt.
A short stumble in the jungle and I had it in me paws
Second to find, but first to log on line
The FTF happened on the 23 September, 2012, but the cachers who found it didn't log it.
Must admit I've never heard of them
So despite losing the gloss of a true FTF, I will still claim it
TFTC.
