Logs
Had high hopes for this one as it did have a find back in 2019 but despite two of us looking for at least 20 minutes we couldn't find it.
There was an easing in the heavy showers as we went to look for this cache. Reasonably accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a partially hidden cache. Unfortunately the lid of the container is badly cracked, there was water in the container and the logbook was saturated and unusable. So we left a new logbook in a sealable plastic bag inside a mint tin (the only think of an appropriate size that we had with us) and put it inside the original container. This arrangement will do as an interim measure but urgent maintenance is required. Thanks Smergol for the cache.
With just over 2 years having passed since the last log, we didn't hold high hopes. The setting sun cast a golden light on GZ and we made the approach... with no cache in sight. As we conceded defeat I found a weather beaten notepad amongst the pine needles! It was dry but had been quite wet previously. I pried open a page and made the log. About 4m from there I found the cache lid and then the base down the embankment! I pieced this sorry cache back together and rehid for another find
#GA1965 - 11:55; Day five of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. The plan for today was to head south through Beaufort to Penshurst, Port Fairy and Warnambool, before heading back via Camperdown and Lismore to Creswick caching all the way. After grabbing some snaps of the local trig, it was off to grab some of the local caches. After a couple of DNFs, it was nice to actually find this one, although Sdl spotted it out in the open as we were walking to GZ. After signing the log, we replaced the cache, which is in good condition, back where it belongs. Don't know how long it has been lying out in the open and unloved as it is coming up five years since the last find! TFTC Smergol

Parked at the intersection of the road and the rail trail and took the short walk to GZ. Walk towards GZ and found lying on the ground sae and sound. Log was signed, cache replaced and we back to the warmth of the car.
Great to see this one still there after a long time between finds. Thanks for another one....

After completing the Koroit o Warrnambool section of the BFS around this time last month we returned on this warm day complete the Port Fairy to Koroit section. Hop skip and jumping every second cache so we had some to find on the return journey this was our third find on the trail. Simply incredible how the recent fire here has spared both the cache and the trail to it, Divine Intervention by a GPS gods?
