Description

This is one of a series of 5 Traditional caches designed to lead you on a walk around the Townsville V8 track.

In July each year Townsville hosts a round of the V8 Supercar Championship on our own purpose built track. Located just south of the CBD, the circuit winds its way through Reid Park where specially constructed roads form approximately 70 percent of the 2.86km circuit. Set in parklands around the Station, Civic Theatre and Townsville State High School, the track proved to be a challenge for the drivers and popular with the fans. For the rest of the year the facilities provide and entertainment precinct, driver training and outdoor exercise areas.  Keep in mind that there are two major roads included in the circuit so you will need to be careful from both safety and muggle perspectives.

Keeping the grass green and the water flowing is very important to the look of this beautiful track. This is a camo magnetic and you will need your own pencil. Pity about the traffic lights being right there....

Congratulations Champs2Monkeys FTF. Hope you enjoyed the walk.

Caching in the area, we looked and failed to find this cache.

We have replaced the cache with a magnetic key holder on the wire/cover to keep it in play as the CO is no longer active.

Managed to find easily enough. Didn’t quite bolt over to it but got it quickly enough. Surprisingly I didn’t mind barracking for Rusty when he was racing around tracks like this.

Sure we knew where this would be, even possibly what it would be, but couldn't find anything. Not surprising after all this time.

North Qld 2013. On my way out for more river caches I past this one first. It fit in neatly with a popular theme here. Thanks

After finding this clever little cache when feeling around the structure and actually knocking it off I then felt like 'knocking it off' for real. A very impressive container. Pity there is so little action on the GCA caches around here but at least you have some in Townsville. A very deserted train station for a weekday - not a sole in sight and we had the car park all to ourselves. Thanks.

ok, this one stumped us. Any further clues? looked at every bolt and turn, though the gps was telling us it was 2 metres away.
Dippy's, could you PM me at [email protected]?

Spotted this sneaky nano after a short hunt. Luckily the area was empty so we were free to search away from muggle eyes. Thanks Smile

About an hour out of town on our way back from a weekend in Cairns, the phone started to chirp, and it was not our usual cache publication notification. Never seen a new GCA cache here before.

Dropped of Grandma and went straight to the track. Easy find for us and we enjoyed the visit.

Oh, and FTF.... TNLN, TFTC
