Description
Should be an easy find on the outskirts of another of WanderingAus' favourite places.
I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack, as well as other towns mentioned in verses made up by geocachers.
Goondiwindi is the 54th place mentioned in the song, at Line two in Verse three. Having found three caches within the town earlier in the afternoon, including one about 90 Croms away from the best hiding spot I found all day, I could happily place an ICEM cache there. (I won't place an ICEM cache in any place where I haven't found a cache of some sort first - my rule for me only).
Verse Three by Geoff Mack
I've cached in Wollongong, Geelong, Kurrajong, Mullumbimby,
Mittagong, Molong, Grong Grong, Goondiwindi,
Yarra Yarra, Boroondara, Wallangarra, Turramurra,
Boggabri, Gundagai, Narrabri, Tibooburra,
Gulgong, Adelong, Billabong, Cabramatta,
Parramatta, Wangaratta, Coolangatta, what's it matter?
Having decided to place an ICEM cache in Goondiwindi the next decision was where to place it. Lots of Goondiwindi shows signs of inundation, being beside the river which divides Queensland from New South Wales, so I spent a few hours driving around, taking photos for Waymarks and finding the occasional cache, and marking possible hide spots. When it was almost time to return and pick up the WanderingMrs from the Royal Hotel I made my decision and returned to the Goondiwindi Cemetery, home of the traditional geocache GC2H6JR Sadly Missed by Gflunk.
This cache is a drab camo'd 1 Kg screwtop fruit container, containing a log, 2 pencils, a sharpener, and an assortment of animal swaps. Please be sure to seal the ziplock bag, screw the lid on tightly and conceal it as found, and watch out for muggles. Please lower it gently into it's hide, and if you don't feel it 'landing', don't drop it, add some bark to raise it a little and try lowering it again.

No problems locating or retrieving this one, though I had to climb over a locked gate to get to it. Thanks for the hide Wanderings.
At GZ the cache was quickly felt but it was a bit of a stretch to reach it.
Thanks.
Your cache was found in good order WanderingAus.

This was the first I had the opportunity to get. There was no way I was heading home without finding 2 GCA traditional caches here. Awesome. And there was a GC one nearby too. Winning! Thankfully there was plenty of parking/turning room for us and our load. I had to check on satellite view before MrGT would agree to coming here. haha. First thing I noticed when I arrived here was the Boab trees. I love them. They have such an odd shape compared to normal trees. Almost like it should be called a fruit that grows leaves as opposed to trees that grow fruit. haha.

Thanks Wandering Aus.....great to find another one in this series.
Container and contents were in good condition.
Thanks WanAus for Goondiwindi ICEM. We particularly enjoyed this cache for a number of reasons. We like the idea of a series of caches - the ICEM SERIES- that link all states and territories. We own 10 ICEM caches in Tasmania. It is our first GCA cache find in Queensland since dragon zone started so earns us our bronze Banana Bender award for finding a GCA cache in Qld. We are also only the fourth team to find this cache, a pity so few cachers up this way look for GCA caches. It is always good to find well hidden, good sized caches
Cache had slipped beyond reach so needed to resort to tools from the Geocruiser to extract the cache from it's hide. Have added a layer of bark under it now to keep it in place.
Thanks WanAus 222
