Description

Should be an easy find on the outskirts of another interesting town.

I've Cached Everywhere, Man  is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack, as well as other towns mentioned in verses made up by geocachers.

Gunnedah is the 29th place mentioned in the song, at Line two in Verse two. Having found two caches and two trigs around the town I could happily place an ICEM cache there. (I won't place an ICEM cache in any place where I haven't found a cache of some sort first - my rule for me only).

Verse Three by Geoff Mack
I've cached in Moree, Taree, Jerilderie, Bambaroo,
Toowoomba, Gunnedah, Caringbah, Woolloomooloo,
Dalveen, Tamborine, Engadine, Jindabyne,
Lithgow, Casino, Brigalow and Narromine,
Megalong, Wyong, Tuggerawong, Wanganella,
Morella, Augathella, Brindabella, I'm the feller.

Having decided to place an ICEM cache in Gunnedah the next decision was where to place it. With two excellent lookouts and lots of bush for a hide I cpould easily have placed it at one of those, but they were both already occupied. I found an interesting walk trail which leads up the hill to and past 'Little Porky', and hid it a few metres off the trail. The bottom of the trail is at S30°59.789' E150°15.423', and there is ample parking nearby.

This cache is a drab camo'd 1 Kg screwtop fruit container, containing a log, 2 pencils, a sharpener, and an assortment of animal swaps. Please be sure to seal the ziplock bag, screw the lid on tightly and conceal it as found, and watch out for muggles. Please be careful placing the concealing rocks, so that their weight does not fall on the container.

Swaggies are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online. Grounspeak Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) can NOT be logged into this cache, or any other GCA cache. Please don't drop any Grounspeak Trackables in this cache, and if you find any in this cache please remove them and log a "Grab it from somewhere else" log for the trackable.

After arriving and unpacking the car, we made the most of the available daylight with a lap around Gunnedah, grabbing a dozen assorted finds, GC and GCA. It seems we've basically cleared the town now....
After a false start with no access to the hillside, we parked around in Apex Rd, then headed up the stone steps. We grabbed this cache on the way down after finding the GC cache further up. All in great order too..... TFTC!

#GA5224 - 10:10; Day 12 of a road trip with Sol de lune for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega and we are now headed for home. After spending the night in Tamworth, it was time to collect a few more caches in the area before hitting Gunnedah for a few more. Made my way solo to this one as Sdl logged it on an earlier visit. Was spoiled for choice at GZ, but after 18 months unloved, quickly spotted the hide and added my name to the log. Nice to add yet another in this series Dancing TFTC WanderingAus Very HappyClan Cerberus

We needed an unfound GCA cache for the Olympics Challenge.......not an easy task when there's so few in the area. Happy we hadn't got around to finding this on previous visits and after setting up camp for Agquip, this was where we came. We hadn't been to this part of the track before. TFTC and the great views across Gunnedah WanderingAus.

Today I meet Chewy the dog and it's lovely neighbour. After the neighbour tried to quieten the dog, I let her know any I was there, then befriended the dog before moving on to find the geocache. Chewy didn't seem too interested in the cache and kept heading up the track. I had to leave him with it and on to other heights.

Forgot to take any swaps from the car so took nothing from cache.

QLD Mega trip 2015 with Sol de Lune. On this almost 400km road trip we drove from Canberra to Stanthorpe caching in all the towns along the way with mostly great success. Around the Mega there were heaps of caches to be done including a few power trails. Despite the weather we got all of the planned caches done.

This was a little way up a small hill, so I not sure it is a T1 cache, but it is good to visit another town in this series. Thanks.

Parked down the bootm, walked up the little hill and soon arrived at GZ where the cache was soon found. No problems and all was good.

2222 GAFF1 Was on my way to Warrumbungles for a cache or two out there, and saw that this one was on the way. Stopped in, and found my way to the hiding spot. Seemed very close to the neighbours at first, but well out of sight at GZ.
TNLN - well, took the Pathtag!
TFTC and stop in the area Wandering Aus. I wonder who will find it next!
