Description
From our various excursions to the northern island we have come to realise that Tassie cachers have limited opportunities to extend their caching skills. We have very many high quality caches but do not have the number and range of really annoying and pesky hides that the inhabitants of the bigger island enjoy(?)!.
Yes, we mean micro and nano caches on large metallic objects such as artillery pieces, historic machinery, 2D and 3D sculptures. We looked for very small caches on guns, tanks (army style, not water), tractors, windmills and markers welcoming visitors to towns and district. It seemed that every town and area visited had one of these caches and we all know how hard it is to drive past a cache – well, you just cannot bypass an opportunity for a smiley.
Although there are some examples in our great island, there aren’t the number to enable us to really hone our skills. This series of caches will enable the southern islanders to develop their skills, to get their own back on northern islanders for the frustrating cache hunts when touring the other side of the strait and for all to curse the hiders of these caches in Tassie. Hopefully the caches will be placed in locations where a true geocacher just cannot go past without having a look. Not all hides will be diabolical – just a few!
This cache is located on a World War II field gun on display outside the Southern Midlands Council offices and Online Centre. The hide should only be of difficulty 2 but the slightly higher rating reflects the potentially high muggle factor in the area.

Logs
A small group of us wandered along here to search and no cache could be found.
Fortunately the CO was also attending the event, and so was consulted, the outcome being that the apparently missing cache was replaced.
Found with eepees, rld4963 and KingSmev, with SSR.
Was hereabouts enjoying a meal with a fine bunch of geocachers at a GC Event just up the road.
A small group of us wandered along here to search between luncheon courses, but sadly unsuccessfully.
Fortunately the CO was also attending the event, and so was consulted, the outcome being that the apparently missing cache was replaced.
So pleased to now add my name to the log, band get a green tick on the map.
Found with icybeetas, rld4963 and KingSmev, with SSR tagging along for a walk.
Cheers,
EPs.
If it happens to reappear the cache owner can re-enable it by posting and "Unarchive" log.
Called in with Lil Rafa on the return leg of our geo-trip to complete the TTAI Apple series.
A good day with great company.
So added my name to the log and replaced snap quick as it was getting a tad cold now, thanks for the cache you evil people
G'day 2Ys, I was in the area transporting scouts, then tackling some of the nearby "apple". Looked for about 15minutes, but now need to go pick up scouts after their weekend hike-camp competition, up off Interlaken road. Thanks anyway, cheers, EeePees
Arrived on site just after 9.00am and with the object set back from the footpath, I thought the chances of success were looking good. Well, we know what thought thought don't we........
This was another case of giving it a good going over.....I've probably only missed one spot to check...which is the one hiding the cache!!! Oh well...I have no doubt I'll be back again one day....so will try again.
Thanks again guys...
With some things falling in place Today I managed a quick find.

There seems to be lots of people around today - maybe its the warm weather?
Thanks for the cache
Did this one after a big day of completing Budgietas' TTAI series!
I had just declared it no-find-let's-go-home when I stuck my fingers in one last place and had it.
Thanks.

After a long day sitting around the house at Huonville yesterday waiting for the cache mobile to be re-shod and a poor nights sleep; I felt the need for caches today.
Left home at about 0730hrs and didn't really know where I was headed. Eventually drove from Huonville, as far north as Launceston Airport and as far East as Avoca.
This cache was my eighteenth and last find for the day. Drove from "This Was The Footy Ground" at Avoca, checking "Curse the Hider -Ross" on the way, but the government truck was still there. Too many muggles as well, so continued on without looking for the cache, to this cache. The muggle sitting in the park opposite this morning was gone but just as I parked the car, two touring muggles walked in to look at the monuments. This delayed my search for only a short time. Once they left, I had ground zero to myself and the search was on! I figure your ears were ringing rather loudly by the time the cache was found. I got all "trigometric" on this one; the cache was found, the log signed and the container returned to its hide at 1812hrs.
From here, it was back to Hobart; only stopping at Mood Food to replenish the energy levels on the way; to hide two travellers before going on to Huonville.
Arrived back at Huonville at 2015hrs having found eigthteen caches and hiding two moveables.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
