Description

I've Cached Everywhere, Man  (ICEM) is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack.

It would appear that "I haven't exactly been everywhere" and so verses 5, 6 and 7 have been added by hookline and Trigg-A-Nomics to cover Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania. The community's grateful thanks go to those geocachers for helping to cover most of the populated (and less populated) parts of Australia.

GCA Verse 5 by hookline

I've cached in Narrogin, Leeuwin, Corrigin, Carnarvon
Kalbarri, Kalgoorlie, Narembeen, Geraldton
Burrup, Manjimup, Munglinup, Kununurra
Gillingarra, Badgingarra, Meekatharra, Peedamulla
Albany, Jindalee, Karijini, Yalgoo
Bindoon, Mingenew, Ningaloo... cached there too!

Narembeen is a town in the wheatbelt and around 290km east of Perth. The major industries are growing cereal crops and raising cattle and sheep.  The name means place of female emus in the local aboriginal language.

The area was initially surveyed in 1836 by the Surveyor General John Septimus Roe. After camping on a rocky outcrop and seeing a group of Emus he named the area Emu Hill. By the 1850s European settlers arrived in the area looking for pastoral land for wheat and grazing. Sandlewood cutters also frequented the area during this time.

In 1901 the rabbit proof fence was constructed just to the East of Narembeen and can still be seen today.

The town of Narembeen was established in 1922 about 5 km from the Emu hill town-site. The location of Narembeen was not the best choice as it is prone to flooding. In 1924, there were rumours that gold had been discovered close to the Rabbit Proof fence and the town of Holleton was established about 50 km from Narembeen, but Narembeen prospered as it was the closest train station to Holleton and offered a motor transport service to the miners

In 1968 the town of Narembeen was officially declared.

Cache is a large plastic lego container. Some small swaps for the geokids. Hope you enjoy the series. Please make sure it is placed back under cover.

Staying a couple of nights in Bruce Rock and grabbing some GC and GA caches on our travels.

This one was full of ants and their eggs. I had to knocked them all out to get to the logbook. I hoped all was clear when I replaced everything back in. Took nothing.

Another LGA found. TFTC Smile

Very Happy found it. Spent a day playing Ingress going from Kalgoorlie, via Narembeen to Meriden. Needed to clear a big cloud over the state. While in Narembeen found the cache. And of course the nearby Munzee was looked for as well. I think the munzee has gone as the sign is pretty new.. what a way to spend Boxing Day. Went over 800km for the day. In between Geocaching, Munzee hunting, ingress hunting and Pokémon, I think we would have used up a fair bit of data. Pretty impressed with the phone coverage out in that region. Also travelled on roads I have never been on befor....thanks for the Geocache mate. PS: all looks pretty good although some small black ants were in the process of setting up home around and in the container

A quick find today while heading into Narembeen. Ants are attacking the cache if the get in (which they have - but only the small ones). Otherwise the container and log book are in good condition. Thanks to SpatialRiq for the cache.

Went for a bit of a drive today and had this one lined up as a find.
Just short of two years since the last find.
I have a ICEM cache in Yalgoo and Kalgoorlie which still have no logs.

A nice, quick find while beginning our long tour home to SA. We plan to be there mid September after visiting Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie.
We left Wave Rock this morning after spending three nights there. Very pleased to find a Felixll pathtag which will make two in our collection. We have taken the second one to trade tags with our geodaughter back in SA Laughing

We have done several ICEM caches but have dozens more to go.

The cache is in good condition.

Thanks for the opportunity to cross another one off our list SpatialRiq ClappingDancing

Laughing Out on a caching run to train the Geo Cat about this moving house as we travel Australia.

Decided we had been promising to find this cache for far too long.

So we headed to Kokerbin Rock with the Caravan then left the van and the cat at Kokerbin for the day.

Completed a circuitous route taking in Bruce Rock, Narembeen and Corrigin before heading back to a hungry cat at dark o'clock. Anxious

Cache is still in good order just waiting for the next finder. Left a FelixII pathtag.

We really do love the idea of the ICEM series we perhaps just need to spread the word a bit more.

WanderingAus wandered by on the way to the annual Back To The Bush Veterans Reunion at Bush Rock, taking the long way around because I noticed a Candy Corn Munzee at Narembeen. To my surprise and delight this cache popped into view on TomTom. I swung in and parked, walked over and made an extremly quick and easy GAFF 0 find purely by TomTom.

Very nice to get the First To Find, unexpected when Chwiliwr has put a watch on it. To celebrate the FTF I deployed a Munzee on the nearby sign, and then as I was returning to the geoPajero I spotted a Survey Mark across the road, so I did a quick find and Waymark of that too.

My GCA find No 2,285, overall find No 5,169, LCC, TNLNSL.

*Overall Experience: 3* *FTF*
