Description

A moveable cache for the 2012/2013 Bingo Contest

There is a no log attached. My preference is for you to "find and move" it to show that you actually found it.

This game requires you to hide a moving cache on Geocaching Australia.

The name of the game is bingo and you are trying to complete each number on your bingo card. You will be allocated a maximum of 5 bingo cards, one for each of the first 5 caches you enter in the game. You are welcome to add more caches to the game, but you will only receive a maximum of 5 bingo cards.

The game software will keep an automatic track of your cache and moves and will automatically complete your bingo card as you find caches in the game. As the game software matches the move logs against a cache, your name at CachingGames must match your caching name at Geocaching Australia.

For each bingo card you complete you will win a prize.

Rules (not guidelines)

  • Your cache must be a form of transport or anything, even peripherally related to transport.
  • Your cache may be store bought or hand crafted.
  • Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2012 Australian Eastern Time (GCA Time)
Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your cache on 1 December 2012
Please refer to the Geocaching Australia wiki for more information
  • You are welcome to join the game after it has started provided you list the hidden date and published date as 1 December 2012 and add the word bingo to your cache tags
  • You are required to add the word bingo to the tags on your entry at Geocaching Australia
You can add the word bingo to your tags by visiting your cache page and clicking on Tag in the Actions section in the right hand navigation section of your cache page
  • The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2012 AEDST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2013 AEDST
  • The game administrators decision is final
  • You can find and move your own cache during the game period provided it is not the caches first move
  • Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
  • Only moves count towards your bingo card and you must move the cache at least 1km to count as a valid move
  • There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
  • Other cachers in the game will find / move your cache, but they are requested to move it on within 2 days

Logs

16-Jan-22
Had a bit of a root around in the leaf litter. Found a couple of pine cones but nothing that looked deliberatley placed.

17-Apr-21
We looked under every suspicious mound we could find, and investigated a number of pine cones, with no luck at all. This one could be well buried somehow, or our GPSrs might be out a fair bit....

18-Jan-21
Moved 48.02km
One of three moved to this location. Another back towards Wingello. Gravel road for about 800 metres. Parking off road nearby as is a GC cache.

31-Dec-20
Upon reassurance visited again. Unlike last time the park was deserted - Sydneysiders too busy hugging one another in the main drag. Looked carefully & saw the tail of a dino sticking up out of the foliage. The rest followed. Prior to the discovery of this site I was the 4th best in NSW & 11th nationally at DNFs so my difficulty to be expected. Will move on. Thanks TOC.

27-Dec-20
This movable is still in situ. North side of toilets, yellow bottle brush tree just in front of brown / cream fence join. on left side of tree hidden down in foliage.

10-Nov-20
I no longer receive notifications and only noticed these when updating GSAK. Visited yesterday morning, checked thoroughly per the hint but nothing presented. Beaten to it perhaps. A good place for a hide.

Finally found a location to place 'Prehistoric Transport - Left (89)' at Berry. I went looking last week but didn't find a suitable location and couldn't quite remember my usual tree hide location. Hopefully this will get picked up soon. I moved the plant foliage and made a little hole to slip the movable into so it was out of sight. Thanks for the movable 'Fluffyfish'.

03-Oct-20
Headed down toward Binalong to conduct some cache maintenance over the long weekend between here and Wyangala Dam. We had a fabulous time and wished it could have been a few days longer. I had wondered if there were any movables around about the place to discover and alas there were and they had been sitting patiently waiting or someone to find them for near on 4 months, as as such I just had to be the finder. We went looking for this just as the highway patrol went cruising past but they didn't worry about us. We extracted this interesting piece of ???anatomy and walked it down the freeway dangling between pincer fingers. Arriving at the car I hurled it through the window at hubz. What I didn't know was it contained a Red Back Spider SurprisedShockedShockedSurprised We did not know what else it contained so placed it in a lidded bucket - thankfully I had that in the car and that hubz didn't get mauled by the savage beast. The spider was fumigated once we got back to our camping spot. Now back home I will move it on soon. Thanks for the movable.

As usual, GCA moveables left at a GC Mega can sit around for a while...look at the number of trackables still listed at any Mega.

Any moveables still listed at the Queanbeyan Mega are currently being rounded up and will be moved on as soon as possible.

Journey or Destination

Game Period: 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST

It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.

On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.

For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.

Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.

Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.

Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.

Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.

Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.

Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.

Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.

At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.

Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.

A qualifying find is a geocache that meets the following criteria:

The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia

The geocache has a hidden date prior to the game commencing

The geocache was logged by you on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period

The geocache was physically found by you during the game period

The geocache is not owned by you unless it is a moveable geocache

The geocache has not previously been found by you during the game period

The geocache is one of the following types:

Burke and Wills

Moveable (you will qualify only once for a find on a moveable geocache)

Traditional

TrigPoint

Augmented Reality

Beacon

Gadget

Multi-cache

Night Cache

Podcache

Reverse

Unknown or Mystery

A qualifying hide is a geocache that meets the following criteria:

The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia

The geocache has a hidden date after the game has commenced

The geocache was published on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period

The geocache has a container size of regular or larger (Note: A regular geocache has a volume of 1 litre or more)

The geocache is one of the following types:

Moveable

Traditional

Augmented Reality

Beacon

Gadget

Multi-cache

Night Cache

Podcache

Reverse

Unknown or Mystery

The game tracking mechanism relies upon your honesty when logging geocaches as found or hidden.

The games administrators will undertake verification of a statistically significant number of logs.

Players who continually log inaccurate information will be disqualified from the game. The game administrators decision is final.

The game administrators will subtract qualifying hide or find geocaches from your tally if they are found to be not genuine.

The game administrators reserve the right to provide clarifications to the rules at any point during the game.

Don't forget to claim your limited time game trophies, if your qualify, while the game is in progress. Once the game completes the ability to claim your trophies is lost for ever.

Sorry but this is a scary moveable that I was pleased to get out of the car- I found it quite upsetting to look at and it felt revolting! It was the first one I put out today in my caching run of putting out seven moveables! It is hidden under a rock with bracken in front so it us not visible to people that stop here.

19-Jun-18
Been awhile since I have seen some moveables so close to town. I hope they hang around till I finished my activities in Launceston so I can find them. Checked the phone - still there so off I go. Phone GPS was jumping around and the first moveable I couldn’t find so I was thinking they might have been picked up. I did happen to stumble across four moveables before my phone went flat. This was better than I had hoped for after my first DNF. Thanks for the moveable Fluffyfish - not the most attractive one I have found!
