Description
Spring Caching Carnival of 2018 Moveable Dinosaur Race
A late entry in the cache race for September 2018Racing commences 01-Sep-2018 00:00:00 to 30-Sep-2018 23:59:59 AEST
Rules of the game:
- You may find and move your own Dinosaur Racer during the game period.
- Dinosaur Racers must be found and hidden by the same geocacher (i.e. no mailing the Dinosaur Racer to another geocacher to hide).
- There is no limit to the number of times a geocacher can find / move the Dinosaur Racer provided there are at least two other finds / moves in between.
- If the Dinosaur Racer has not moved within 7 days and you were not the last geocacher to find or move it then the "rule of two other finds / moves" does not apply and you are free to move the Dinosaur Racer again.
- If the Dinosaur Racer has not moved within 14 days, even if you were the last geocacher to find or move it then you are free to move the Dinosaur Racer again.
- If a geocacher moves your Dinosaur Racer overseas and it remains unfound overseas for 1 week or more, the Dinosaur Racer mover may move your Dinosaur Racer back to the country of origin without breaking the "2 moves" rule.
- There is no limit to the distance other geocachers can move the Dinosaur Racer.
Etiquette:
- Avoid rehiding a Dinosaur Racer far from active geocachers territory as it basically exits the dinosaur from the race
- When rehiding a Dinosaur Racer get good co-ordinates. Seriously. Don't dump and run. Get co-ords as you would a permanent geocache
- When making your log against a Dinosaur Racer include a GOOD HINT so the finder can identify whether it's been moved, muggled or just a bad GPS day
- This is a challenge of moving Dinosaur Racer along, not trying to make them impossible to find, so help you fellow players out by making the game enjoyable
- Please avoid hiding movable caches near existing Groundspeak or Geocaching Australia geocaches. At Groundspeak geocaches they go missing as rubbish or taken as trades. At Geocaching Australia geocaches the other geocache ends up travelling as well which it's not supposed to. So please find a location away from any existing geocaches (except of course other movable geocaches) to keep the Dinosaur Racer in play for as long as possible.
Please come and find me and move me on quickly.

Handed to us by JohnoMawbs to log on this very cold wet windy day. Tnx Budgietas
Heading to 'The Rock' today to catch up with BMG. I decided on collecting this cache and taking it with me. I dropped it off at the Moveable Cache home (GA4962). TFTC
Ready to be found again. The dinosaur fitted completely in the hide, but stuck its head out for a photograph.
Quick find. Movables are fun! It's good to be allowed to be out and about, even in a small way.
Stretching the legs after lock-down so decided to head off and grab a cache or two. A quick grab here today with Just a cacher.

With the country going into lockdown & meat / chicken / rice & dunny paper in short supply I figured it was time to go for a caching run & drop of some movables & complete some caches, needed to clear my head as job insecurity is of real concern & I had enough of the bullshit – so cache on – a nice short detour from highway – 2 off in this hidey hole – 1 off in each end S34 49.531 E148 19.065 to S34 49.532 E148 19.065
2 off Guard rails here – 1 off in each end off

As usual, GCA moveables left at a GC Mega can sit around for a while...look at the number of trackables still listed at any Mega.
Any moveables still listed at the Queanbeyan Mega are currently being rounded up and will be moved on as soon as possible.

Found in the company of a number of other moveable caches.
Having had a smooth trip on the Spirit of Tasmania, and an equally smooth trip by vehicle northwards, this moveable is now comfortably residing at Shepparton until it is collected to continue its journey
We collected this one last night in Devonport, after a lovely farewell dinner with 2y’stassies
Today he is waiting to board the Spirit of Tasmania to start a new adventure on the mainland
Thanks for the opportunity of moving him
And hopefully another footstep towards my destination

Journey or Destination
Game Period: 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST
It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.
On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.
For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.
Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.
Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.
Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.
Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.
Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.
Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.
Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.
At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.
Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.
A qualifying find is a geocache that meets the following criteria:
The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia
The geocache has a hidden date prior to the game commencing
The geocache was logged by you on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period
The geocache was physically found by you during the game period
The geocache is not owned by you unless it is a moveable geocache
The geocache has not previously been found by you during the game period
The geocache is one of the following types:
Burke and Wills
Moveable (you will qualify only once for a find on a moveable geocache)
Traditional
TrigPoint
Augmented Reality
Beacon
Gadget
Multi-cache
Night Cache
Podcache
Reverse
Unknown or Mystery
A qualifying hide is a geocache that meets the following criteria:
The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia
The geocache has a hidden date after the game has commenced
The geocache was published on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period
The geocache has a container size of regular or larger (Note: A regular geocache has a volume of 1 litre or more)
The geocache is one of the following types:
Moveable
Traditional
Augmented Reality
Beacon
Gadget
Multi-cache
Night Cache
Podcache
Reverse
Unknown or Mystery
The game tracking mechanism relies upon your honesty when logging geocaches as found or hidden.
The games administrators will undertake verification of a statistically significant number of logs.
Players who continually log inaccurate information will be disqualified from the game. The game administrators decision is final.
The game administrators will subtract qualifying hide or find geocaches from your tally if they are found to be not genuine.
The game administrators reserve the right to provide clarifications to the rules at any point during the game.
Don't forget to claim your limited time game trophies, if your qualify, while the game is in progress. Once the game completes the ability to claim your trophies is lost for ever.

Had this one too long and it's taking up too much room. Dropped off tonight with a couple of mates.
This guy was having a rest after racing around in the recent moveable challenge. Whilst out for our late afternoon walk, the GeoGSP and I decided to stop by and say hello. As we hadn't met this guy/gal before we decided that they could join us for the rest of our walk. Was glad it was starting to get dark as I was feeling a bit conspicuous walking the dog with a dinosaur in my hand - too big to fit in my pocket! Thanks for the moveable Budgietas, he/she will be out and about again soon.
