Description
Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Memorial Horse Trough
This cache is located on a horse trough on Longford's main road. The cache container is only large enough for the log sheet, so you will need to bring your own pen or pencil. The cache is in a very public area, so stealth will be required.
The horse trough was installed in 1897 to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. The trough was restored in 1988 as part of Ausralia's bicentennial celebrations. The National Trust have a photo of the trough as it used to be.

Logs
A new container has been placed, and is no longer in an area where it will be under water.
Cache has become waterlogged again, so it has been disabled until a suitable replacement container can be found.
Have visited here before and passed by to admire this rather unique trough, the legs are special. Easily retrieved while reading the plaques.. thanks..!!

Even though GZ is a very exposed area this cache was retrieved without causing suspicion because of its very clever hide. We really enjoyed seeing this quite unusual horse trough. Thanks for the cache. Sorry for the late log.

A good size cache on a thing like this.....makes the finding thing a bit easier.
An interesting item....so for showing us Clockwork Lemon.

what a great horse trough, not at all what we expected. Sadly today it was dry and full of rubbish. A quick find as it was quiet. There was a sign on the Queens Arms stating they were closed today due to unforseen circumstances. TFTC

Cache found high and dry - water in the GZ was green and yuk though (and garnished with an empty gin & coke can). TFTC!
Took a detour home via Longford and Cressy to get a few caches. Thanks for showing us this spot, very interesting. Loved the hiding spot. TFTC

hunted and tagged on easter Sunday morning, there were a couple of muggles but it was an easy find. tftc.
Who would put a cache here. And I found it nice and dry.

Thought I would try early morning having read previous logs. A quick find but everything was saturated possibly after the thunderstorm and 30mm rainfall last night. Took it all for a drying drive on the dashboard to a nearby cache. All returned and secured. TFTC

Of course I interpreted the hint a little too literally & went down "there" when I should have gone down "there"! Then I discovered that the apparently empty & deserted pub was really just reflecting light off the window with perfect view of GZ for patrons within. Cripes, it's the middle of a Tues afternoon. Then (after surrepticious & furtive signing at conviently placed & appropriately designed seat) not one but two patrons of said establishment decided on lengthy phone calls staring out of said window. Grrr! Walkies time. Plus 5 minutes of very sus fake phone conversation on something that looked suspiciously like a GPS. If this is the last "found it" log you know who's responsible. Sorry.
A very quick find as the cache was visible as we walked up. Replaced it as tucked up as possible. Great trough, loved the legs.

While walking the dog I thought it's about time I did another cache, easy find, tftc
Found this cache as part of my and Geo Son E's caching and soccer trip to Burnie. Geo Kid E was playing in a regional cup in Burnie, so we left early and had a great time caching across to Marrawah and back through Burnie and Ulverstone areas.
Thank you for the cache
Very Clever cache hide

High muggle area like notes say but able to grab this one whilst everyone had their backs turned. Wonderful workmanship worth the look. Just as hard to replace.

Nice hide. I was expecting a sandstone trough not one made of actual horse limbs! A very unusual trough. The old "just one more" effect was making the journey back to Hobart take longer and longer (from Corinna...did we go the quicker way as suggested by the local?). Thanks for the very neat cache ClockworkLemon.
A nice quick find by Dippy and our last cache for our West Coast trip was in the bag.
Getting very cold this late in the evening (or Im getting soft)
Thanks for the cache ClockWorkLemon

Nicely hidden! The clue made sense and sped up the find, given the amount of traffic around the place. SLTFTC!!!

1st for the day after camping the night at Bracknell recreation ground. A quick find thanks to the clue. Thanks.
A quick detour on our way home and a quick find due to the hint. There were people standing about nearby but made a discreet find at the lovely restored horse trough outside the heritage listed pub. Loved it. TFTC
Hi ClockworkLemon
After having my head shaved in the greatest shave today, we had to come north for a family do.
Dropped off to Longford on the way and quickly found your new cache.
I logged it at 1515hrs.
Used to have a lot of meals at the nearby establishment.
TFTC and cheers

We decided to call into Longford on our way from Hobart to home. It was about 4:30pm and muggles were few and far between. This made for an uncoomplicated inspection of the horse trough and, with the hint, a quick find was made. the cache and contents were in good condition. TFTC
Woo Hoo FTF @ 18:05 hrs. Made a quick find, no muggles about. Have driven past here many times but never stopped to appreciate this lovely old horse trough. Thanks for giving us a reason to and for the cache.
