Description

Claytons Power Trail

The power trail you have when you're not having a power trail.

The CPT series was placed for a GC event to be held in Echuca on Anzac Day 2013. It started out with a plan for a power trail of GCA caches but ended up becoming a series of caches placed in various locations between Elmore and Mathoura.

CPT Riverside

Many years ago I joined the Cubs and then progressed into the Scouts. Although it was so many years ago I still recall our pack traveling down here from Echuca on a hot summer day. Along the riverbank close to here was a "mud" slide and we spent the afternoon sliding down from the top of the riverbank into the cooling waters below. Today the trees have grown thicker and the number of logs in the river has increased. I doubt a suitable could now be found to safely slide down the bank.

The cache contains log book and pen.

Heading south towards St Arnauds with geovan in tow we stopped to find this cache. Quick find here. Cache and contents in good condition.

No dramas with this one and no mud sliding for me today.
Thanks WAW for the cache and the fun and another nice location.

A little trickier than Mozzies! The GPS had us running around in circles, but we got it eventually!

boy was it hard to find a way into these two caches!! We had to turn around a few times, but The Morris were determined and we got there in the end. The road was dry and easy enough to travel, but it both reminded us of times we have been bogged for the sake of a smilie and we compared storeys are we approached the caches.

Heading on the return journey now back to Bendigo from the event outside Echuca, The Morris and I were making a few stops along the way. We did a good mix of GC and GCA caches then I headed further south back to Melbourne, phew it was a long day!

Thanks for the cache and the series WazzaAndWenches.

I was very keen to complete this section of the power trail after starting it almost 3 years ago. With LouiseAnne aboard we collected a few of the along the way to the event in Echuca. We completed a number of U turns before we achieved a break in the traffic and found the right track to make it a driveby. TFTC W&W

Found on our way out of town. Heading to Melbourne to get the boat back to Tassie. We've really enjoyed our three week caching holiday on the big island, would have loved to stay longer. TFTC

This would be a great spot to just sit and consider life as it rushes past on the nearby highway TFTC

this one took me a little while to find, eventually dad came over and helped retrieved the cache

Because we were heading north we decided to park the van on the highway and walk to this one. Bad decision!! After only a few metres a large irrigation ditch full of water and about 10 feet across was barring the way. Had to walk north to find a place to cross this obstacle. Should really have continued along track from the previous cache but hindsight is always a wonderful thing. Left a beetle magnet peg TN. Thanks.

With the CVGT VI event in Echuca, we had the opportunity for some new local finds.
Thanks to WazzaandWenches we had a run to Elmore this afternoon to log some finds & head toward our GCA goal of 200 finds.

Once we found the way in, quickly had cache in hand on another lovely riverside stop.

Found by Roma and Max.
Mud slides may not appeal to us but finding well hidden GCA caches does, and we were not disappointed here today.
Made our approach from the highway without realising there was probably a better avenue available.
Thanks again Wazza and your Wenches.
From Romax.
