Description

Claytons Power Trail

The power trail you have when you're not having a power trail.

The CPT series was placed for a GC event to be held in Echuca on Anzac Day 2013. It started out with a plan for a power trail of GCA caches but ended up becoming a series of caches placed in various locations between Elmore and Mathoura.

CPT Lombardy

Some months ago ths property was put up for auction and the expected price had quite a lot of zeroes in it. I never did hear the outcome of the auction but whenever we pass by I wonder about its history and its future. The entrance is quite a prominent sight along an otherwise uninteresting roadside.

The cache is a drive-by and hidden in a very obvious location.

Having driven past this cache may times over the last few weeks I have been concerned that a cleanup in the area may have cleaned up the cache as well.
Today I was on a private trip rather than a work trip and could stop to check.
Surprisingly, the cache is still in place, recovered and with a note in the log book from the blokes who cleaned up the area. My sincere thanks to them for leaving the cache in-situ.

We parked opposite this hide as the storm that had been threatening for a while finally broke with a deafening thunder clap following by a downpur that included horizontal hail and galeforce winds. We sat out the storm before making our way cautiously to the most obvious object where we located a surprisingly dry cache container. The contents were dry and in good condition.

Thanks for this cache in the CPT WazzaAndWenches Hopefully we'll be able to find more of these CPT caches on another visit to the area. Unfortunately we missed seeing the Lombardy gates as the rain and hail reduced the visibility to a few metres.

On my way to the Geocaching Day at Bendigo today with dalerious, we swung by this one to check it out for you and it is clean and dry after the heavy rain we’d had overnight.
Looking forward to seeing you at the event

A nice easy one here. It almost had a cacher trail leading to it.
Thanks WAW for the cache and the fun.

This is a nice break in a long straight road.
Had to break through a spider's web and the
colourful little spider was not too happy
about that.
Signed and replaced as found... without the
web.

Thanks WazzaAndWenches

On my way to Echuca for an event, I had the advantage of no passengers, no timeline, and the cover of darkness, so stopped for a few grabs.

This was one last stop before the final run to town. Thanks, WazzaAndWenches; See ya tomorrow.

#GA1980 - 10:55; Day six of a caching mission around western Victoria with Sol de lune and we were now headed for home. The plan for today was to head north through Central Goldfields and on to Castlemaine, Bendigo, Shepparton, Cobram and Yarrawonga before crossing the border into Mulwala and then on to Rand, Lockhart then home. After collecting a few caches around Bendigo, we were on our way north again on a round about way to Shepparton. Stopped off so I could grab this cache on the way past as Sdl had picked it up on a previous visit. All found in good order. TFTC WazzaAndWenches Very HappyClan Cerberus

I was very keen to complete this section of the power trail after starting it almost 3 years ago. With LouiseAnne aboard we collected a few of the along the way home from the event in Echuca. This was an easy find and the last for a very long day. I think We have now found them all between Bendigo and Echuca so thanks for the series W&W.

This was the last cache of the day for me. A quick stop on the trip south with no issues at the cache. Those are some impressive gates.

Heading on the return journey now back to Bendigo from the event outside Echuca, The Morris and I were making a few stops along the way. We did a good mix of GC and GCA caches then I headed further south back to Melbourne, phew it was a long day!

Thanks for the cache and the series WazzaAndWenches.

Found on our way out of town. Heading to Melbourne to get the boat back to Tassie. We've really enjoyed our three week caching holiday on the big island, would have loved to stay longer. TFTC

A good quick find...and as it getting upwards of 37 degrees, I was glad to only be out of the car for a short time. Cache is all good.

Thanks again W&W...

At the end of a long day caching and a night with little sleep crossing over to the big island on the Spirit of Tasmania we took the easy option and drove right to this one. Probably something we couldn't have done if it had been wet. Left a beetles peg magnet TN. Thanks, an impressive looking establishment especially if the entrance is anything to go by.

26-Apr-13
With the CVGT VI event in Echuca, we had the opportunity for some new local finds.
Thanks to WazzaandWenches we had a run to Elmore this afternoon to log some finds & head toward our GCA goal of 200 finds.
Spotted the hide from a distance. TFTC SL

Thank you Wazza for an excuse for us to devote a few hours to search for GCA caches!
We are not usually interested in power trails as the initial novelty has dissipated with their proliferation!
However a Claytons version does appeal to our sense of humour.
We also have admired this imposing entrance and recall at one time farming of large birds was associated with whatever lies beyond sight on the river front.
Container well hidden and numbers spot on.
Regards,
from Roma and Max.
