Description

Walking with the angels

This is a special cache to bring folks to say hi to our Declan :) Take a minute to walk around and say hello - we like to make this a happy place, for celebrating little lives.

Please take care to hide the cache properly again - there are lots of badly-behaved visitors here of a night time.

Bring your own pen, and if you like, bring something little to leave with one of our little friends.

#GA5664 - 14:10; In Bathurst on a caching run with Sol de lune and spotted this cache nearby while visiting the grave of probably the best know local, one Joseph Benedict Chifley. I had no problems locating this cache and was happy to add my name to the log. Read the verse while saying hello to Declan and although I left feeling a little sad, the memorial area is a nice place to remember the littlies who left us far too soon. On a trip out to the Bathurst area with alnic39, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC following some of the off shoot roads or roads less travelled. This was a find of part of The Road Less Travelled series we went to Bathurst, Perthville, Georges Plains, Newbridge, Hobbys Yards, Neville and Carcoar along the way. Al did some cache checks along the way. With that many hands & eyes most were quickly found a few had us stumped

With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache Biscuit Runners

Found as during the 2018 to 2019 Summer Games.

The latest Geocaching Australia game runs from 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST

For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath.

I was in Bathurst for the Geocaching NSW Invasion event, and headed out for a few finds before the event. Made my way to this one but a muggle parked nearby on his phone was making things look a bit awkward. While he was looking the other way I checked a couple of things before spotting the container and taking it away to the nearby seat to sign. While I did that he drove off so I could replace it unseen.

Thanks for the cache Biscuit Runners, a nice way to commemorate an all too short life and share it with the wider geocaching community.

GrimRaider and I visited Bathurst for the weekend and stopped in at the cemetery to have a look around and grab some caches. We started with the earth cache and moved on to these traditionals. It reminded me that it is only when you see or experience such loss that can realise you need to relish all that you have, right now. A brave and special cache - thank you for sharing.

Found with Gangstella. I was a little hesitant bringing my girl here but it was good for her. We actually tried finding the 'Trinity' geocache in Bathurst just before this one as that was the name of her little girl, but unfortunately a gardener had come through recently and the cache was gone.

Found with rogerw3 during our Bathurst geocaching expedition. We wanted to log all available GCA caches while in the area and didn't realise the story behind this geocache until we arrived at the cemetery.

It was very moving to see all the graves of all the children. At first we didn't know if we should continue, but then thought that Declan's parents would want us to visit the grave and remember him.

TNLNSL.

RIP little Declan.

Found today with pjmpjm during our geocaching expedition in the Bathurst area.
I was not sure about looking for this one but we went anyway. I always have this uneasy feeling about cemetary caches.
In any case this was a very nice little cache and I found it very emotional to see all those poor souls there.
The cache was soon found and replaced with minimal disturbance.
A deeply moving memorial.

I only look at the GCA site occasionally and seen that a new cache had been placed in Bathurst.
So I came past and said hello to Declan and the others before searching for the cache, which was quite easy to find.
After completing the formalities, I headed to another section nearby to say hello to a good friend of mine who I haven't visited in a long while so thanks for bringing me here Smile
