Description

A tree climber's paradise!

When I was out finding (and hiding) a few caches in the reserve, I met a nice chap who had come out for a breif bit of bird-watching. I met him twice during the day, the first time I told him about Geocaching. He told me he had heard of it. The second time, he told me about bird watching. It sounded like an interesting activity, although not for me!

I was riding past this tree and thought it would be a nice place for a hide. You can climb to the top (I did, although I don't recommend trying) but I hid it closer to the ground so most people can get it. It is a mint tin and I do recommened this one for kids, although supervised. Please use some stealth when finding the cache and becareful not to disrupt the area too much. Replace the cache as found unless it is out of the tree.

Wandered over to this one, then noticed the terrain rating when I arrived. Stood cursing the CO for a while, before spotting it on the ground nearby. Signed and replaced in a more normal spot (I'm not a tree climber, so I'm not going to rehide it up the tree - sorry)

Thanks,

Found with Kittykatch & CBRChic on a very pleasant Saturday afternoon stroll in Callum Brae. A bit of a tricky one. No sign of it in the tree, well as far as I was prepared to climb. Then, just as we were about to move on, KK found it on the ground. We replaced in a more suitable site.

Found with Strangetrousers and CBRchic on a beaut day wandering around Callum Brae. We searched for the cache from the ground, and then ST made the climb to look for it without luck. Around and around the tree we go but no luck so we resigned ourselves to a DNF. So sorting out the next cache, I nearly stepped on a mint tin, hidden in the grass - YIPPEE !! So we signed the log, added a new log sheet, and placed the cache back in the tree in a safe spot. So good to avenge a DNF before you even really leave GZ. Thanks for the fun Cankid Smile

On a lunch time cache hunt in Callum Brae with cantanga, perfect day for it (it was hard to go back to work). We were very much barking up the wrong..... Embarassed However cantanga checked previous logs and eventually we uncovered it. But not before cantanga had a bit of a workout searching HIGH and low Razz. It is a beaut tree and thanks for the cache Cankid

Well that was a fun climb, although I do get the feeling I'm getting older as I think would would have been easier once upon a time. Climbed it twice in fact. First time because I thought it may be up there, and I couldn't see it so I went back down to search low again. The second time because we looked at the hint, again couldn't see it. In frustration I read the logs while up the tree only to see I was to high now. With a bird eye view I looked down and saw the obvious spot. The very obvious spot. Well I'm going to blame my phone, it had it 20m on the other side. Either way it was a bit of a work out and a fun climb. TFTC

Stumped ? Certainly was! Very small slip of paper for a log as well. Bit of all round mankyness I'm afraid!

We were in the area collecting a couple before the closer for the next couple of weeks. We found it where the last finder had placed it, which saved a climb for us too. TFTC

Clan Cerberus #GA132 - 15:50; Like the previous finder, I didn't read the logs first, so did the climb, looked up and saw nothing of interest, looked down and spotted the cache container sitting in the top of a stump at ground level. Signed the resident piece of paper, replaced the cache as found and continued off along the trail. TFTC Cankid Smile

Out with Relish64 wandering around Callum Brae and decided to check on this one. Up I went and couldnt work out where what I was looking for was hiding. I then cast my glance downwards and saw something familiar just sitting in the stump near by. Upon opening the container, I then discovered no log, only a familiar sticker (see pic). So I signed a piece of a receipt, placed it in the container and left it where I found it.

Found on a caching afternoon around home. Wandered over from the nearby cache further up the hill. Followed the guideance from other logs, so after walked 35m west, the cache was quickly found. You may need to check this Cankid, but with these instructions anyone can find it. Nicely hidden at the spot though, so it should be fine. Would be a good spot to watch birds and look at the view. TFTC Cankid!

Yep coordinates 35m out - needs fixing

A very appropriate name for a cache. After I had found (35m AWAY from the coords - gollleeee - those coords are WAY out!) the cache, I was walking back to the car and a photographer with a camera with a VERRRRYYYYYY big telephoto lens walked past to set up near the pond. While I was there, there were no birds in the water, but there was hundreds of screeching Sulphur Crested Cockatoos in the tree tops. Thanks.

Arrived at GZ and thought no-one can climb that tree. So looked around and found another tree, 35 metres to the west that looked the goods. Looked up in the tree but couldn't see a mint tin......but then looking down, saw it on the ground. Ok, that's works for me.

Opened the log, yep no-one else has been here, so it has fallen out of the tree??? Oh well.

Log was signed and cache replaced....but no where near the 8 metres that the hint states.

So for future finders, once at the posted co-ords, turn west, walk 35 metres and you'll find the correct tree. At the moment though the cache is only 1 metre off the ground....in the bark of the tree.

Thanks Cankid....I guess the cache was going to be called something else judging by the name in the log. Thanks for the *FTF* as well.
